I cannot fathom what is wrong with the Lions. They have plenty of talented players but they never to function well as a team.

What's happening, Lions supporters?

//I'm not being nasty or sarcastic, this is a serious question.

They don't have good coaches. Laurie Mains came in and they played brilliant rugby. Won the currie cup in 99 and also, came in the semi-final of the super12.

The problem is the coaching staff.

I highly doubt you can blame the Coaching staff.

It's a bigger problem, starting right at the desk of the Managing Director of GLRU all the way down to the accounts lady. That and the fact that Ellispark is located in the worst possible place on earth.

I would agree and also disagree, the weekend i went to EPS with my wife and some family members, when we bought our tickets we also bought parking tickets which you park inside the stadium. Then for other safety concerns i can not recall one issue this year so far(and i've been to all the LIONS games at EPS) because the police is very active during and after the games.

Yes it is not a good location but it is not as unsafe as every body wants it to be.

Hans van Dyk Cited

Xerox Lions hooker Hans van Dyk has been cited for allegedly biting Vodacom Western Province flanker Francois Louw on the forearm during the first half of an Absa Currie Cup Premier Division match in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Van Dyk was cited by commissioner, Attorney Mr Andy Prior of Durban, after reviewing video and other evidence.

Van Dyk is currently on leave and out of the country. A date for the hearing will be set on his return.

Nice win over the weekend for the Lions and great way to end the season! ;)

Now about the bit ... is that really a bite from a Lion or just a player that couldn't tame the pride? :D

Hi Walter

I see Willem Alberts is named in the squad but I see a lot of talk about him joining the Sharks next year. We all know him and Ludick were eager to get out of their contracts but I believe Ludick will be staying. Any news on Alberts?

I think both of them are lost to the Lions. Sounds like Ludik already moved house to Durban, and Alberts is just finishing his exams at UJ before he makes the move as well.

There was talk that Boland might be interested in the Rose brothers but that probably fell through when Boland failed to qualify for next year's Currie Cup.

Thanks for the update.

See Cheetahs have signed Monty Dumond and Skipper Badenhorst from the Sharks.
But they let Johan Wessels go. The next Brussow in the making.

Ludik is a great player. pity he is lost to the lions. So is alberts.

Well the lions included them in their S14 player group.

So we will have to wait and see what is happening there, as the lions clearly think they have a valid contract.
