Don't think we can blame the ref much. We were terrible and were lucky to only lose by 7 points. If we didn't have Brussouw there we would've been thumped. Can you believe that he wasn't originally selected?! Just so many average performances I'm not even going to bother pointing them out.

This game is even more embarrassing then the Leicester one imo. Least we had excuses for that game.

So where's the Steyn fans now eh ...... I seem to recall someone else being crucified for a much less worse game than what dingleberry had tonight  And as for Kirchner .... well, I called it. Hands up who remembers anything worthwhile tonight.

Only guys that really really pitched up tonight were Smit, Brussouw and Bakkies .......

If our boys were fresh things would have been very different.

Steyns performance was not completely null and void for one, although not one to remember forever. Of course Zane can't fill the boots of F. Steyn but his performance was on PAR with RP at least. :D
Why did they not bring on Ruaan?

Then the rest of the pack against the ref? Difficult
Jacobs and Pieterson... rather say nothing!

Well I don't know! Maybe I watched another game, All I saw was Blue. The only time I saw him was when he messed up and kicked the ball in French hands.

Pietersen had one of the biggest brain farts I've seen when he threw the ball to the French 5m from our line, almost gifted them a try and it ended in Kankowski (who was our worst player today) getting binned.

can't fault him for trying to get the penalty .... the French player sidestepped the ball, shyte happens.

Before the game i thought we would need to put in an above average performance to beat the frogs. After the game i realized the frogs weren't nearly as hot as touted by the media, and a standard bok display would have seen us home with ease.

Literally ever minute saw something bad happen. A constant stream of bumbled opportunity through shocking ball retention saw us lose by only one try. I can only imagine how well things would have gone if we had just held onto the ball for an acceptable amount of time.

Even with our ball retention problems, the addition of spies, jean, and steyn would have seen us through. Losing those players was a massive loss.

kicking the ball away by Fourie and Steyn every time we got any type of momentum didn't help either ......

It's great to see provincialism is still alive and well in this country! ;)

Read the comments and you will see that some people only see mistakes by Sharks players while others only see mistakes by Bulls players.

I too am guilty of this. But the problem is certain players seem to get given ALL the credit when the TEAM loses and yet they seem to avoid getting the criticism when they were clearly, and irrefutably, played a large part in the Boks loss last night.

I have been avoiding making too much mention of Steyn's performance myself but it is being discussed by everyone else so I thought I would post this.

10 Boks get a free-kick from the scrum and the France put enormous pressure that sees Steyn kick straight into touch. Bad error that. France have started well indeed.

18 It's untidy ball for the Boks and Steyn puts in the up-and-under but it goes long and dead.

38 Morne Steyn's in trouble and is yellow-carded for a trip after a kick through. Silly by Steyn but France are right back in this game.

59 Steyn lines it up. Madness by France there! Hold on - Steyn MISSES!

72 Steyn now takes it in his 22, tries to dance out of a few tackles but he's nailed by Chabal and now France have the ball.

The only other mentions of him that I have not quoted are the drop kick, the penalty and the conversion he got. The rest does not sound very impressive at all.

Steyn had a great year overall, and this was the first "major" blight on his record, so i would say he can get away with it for now. Of more concern for me is burger. He used to be an unstoppable force, but at the moment is not near the quality of Juan Smith.

Hmm, interesting. I'll keep that in mind when other players have a bad game.
