Rules:

  • No hate speech - This should be self evident of course, but sadly it seems necessary to point this out. The distinction between reasoned criticism and hate speech is also very important for people to grasp.
Hate speech includes unsubstantiated broad portrayals of entire ethnic groups (ethnicism) as well as any speech with the sole intention of engendering hatred towards any individual or group based upon religion (or lack thereof), gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.
  • No personal insults/attacks - Again this should go without saying and again, the distinction between a personal insult and a criticism of a viewpoint must be understood.
  • The point of this section is debate and discussion, therefore, I don't think it unreasonable to expect a degree of participation by thread-starters and contributors. We are there to engage with one another, not drop bombs and run like hell.
  • No trolling. Obviously. Surely this does not need further explanation?
  • Thou shalt not create inane and facetious threads - This includes blatant sermonizing (religious or non-religious).
  • In the case of personal insult the offended party should be the one making the complaint. Do not take offence on behalf of others.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Have a sense of humour - There is surely no harm in a joke every now and again, also try and take things with the intent with which they were said. Remember, it's a choice to take offence.
  • When communicating in PD, please make an effort at using the correct grammar and punctuation, to the best of your abilities - It is understandable that there are people who post here who are not first language English speakers, so you are not all expected to sound like an English professor but it would be preferable that there are not posts that look like they should be on Mxit.
  • If there are words you do not understand the meaning of, perhaps consult a dictionary before responding to the post that contains those words.

I have applied digital glue, but closing the thread will prevent copa from being able to update his post.

@copa, RBP when you want the thread closed and we will do it for you, likewise RBP for re-opening in case of subsequent updating.
Cool, thanks ic.

Again, if you guys want to discuss anything, rather go to the original thread.

:D
