I like Mint XFCE a bit more, quite the same as Lubuntu, just that all codecs and usefull stuff is already installed. Have it on my old lenovo netbook, works great.

Whats the specs on the Lenovo?

Do you really need Ubuntu? I used Puppy linux on my EEE PC and it was very fast, even off an SD card.

ArchBang Linux

I love this distro on older/lightweight hardware, it feels like you got a hardware upgrade.

Naaaw, not really.

Mint Xfce = Xubuntu

LXLE, LXQt = Lubuntu

Mint and *buntu are basically the same, only difference is that Mint comes with ralleystripes, fairydust, goldglimmer and codecs and non-free drivers. Oh, and they make the most lovely implementatios of the DEs, as one can see when you compare Mint/MATE to Ubuntu/MATE. Mint's version is so much betterer and nicerer.
