Ja. It is just funny to me that the Russians and the Americans bring their weapons and show it of as in a diplomatic mission.

Certainly not in a strategic sense. Both Gripens and Hawks are capable of a secondary close support tactical role. So pretty much nothing really.

Not any more.

Last specialised bombers we had were the Canberra (bomber) and Buccaneer (close air-support/bomber), both retired in 1991.

After that the Cheetah and now the Gripen and Hawk can be outfitted to fulfill the ground-attack/close air-support roles.
