Whenever I take family/friends to Auschwitz/Birkenau, the reaction is always the same, shock, horror, disgust etc.

Once someone asked, "isn't it morbid to maintain such historic sites, that remind people of the death and suffering, doesn't it stop people from moving on", my Uncle replied, "In a few 100 years, no-one will believe you when you tell them that something like this happened, that's why we need this"
