there will probably be a de facto legal system forming like with the Koreas

Haha.

The Koreas.

Because one has PRC on its side, and other has Russia with its 1950s tanks. Good one.

Will China accept breakaway of these states from Ukraine... this means Taiwan is now OK? :)

Lawmakers in 2019 passed legislation to cement Ukrainian as the country's primary language, ordering middle schools that taught in Russian and other minority languages to make the switch and mandating Ukrainian versions of online stores.

An article of the laws that entered into force in January goes further, obliging shops, restaurants and the service industry to engage customers in Ukrainian unless clients specifically ask to switch.

Anyone caught violating the new legislation twice within one year could be fined 200 euros ($235), almost half of the average salary in the country. No one has been penalised so far.

Officials in Kiev say the initiative aims to revitalise a national language that was subjugated first during the Russian Empire and then in Soviet times.

If canada did this, how long before Quebec is independent?

if you ban 1/3 of your country from speaking their home language and create policies to alienate them then don't be surprised if they end up fighting for Russia.

Donbass etc is 1/3 of Ukraine? Yet you claim Russia controls 20% of Ukraine and they're not in complete control of those areas? Care to reassess your geographical or population lie Nico?

ZH which always provides its actual sources, yes that ZH, why don't you actually check once in a while?

Then quote the origin and not Zreohedge which lacks credibility. Maybe people will read your links when they become credible. But be wary, less than 50% of Brits think the BBC is credible.

Not all the Russians stay in Dombas. Not all Ukranians speak Ukrainian either, yet they don't identify with Russia

BINGO!

Now you're getting it!

See and they would HAVE TO DO IT.

UNLIKE backward footwrap smelly Russia which thinks tolerance is weakness.
I have no issue with them in the EU if they abide by the conditions. The issue has always been NATO

NATO would follow. I would want them in NATO.

We'd get them there. Ultimately who joins NATO is up to the country which wants to join and America.

I am happier the country of my birth is in NATO. It makes it safer. It deals with corruption. Army is trained better. No more pot bellied Soviet era generals.

You're a newcome to Europe. Don't stuff the place up for us who were born there.

The problem Nico is that if Ukraine is allowed to prosper, without Russian interference, Russia will collapse.

Russia will do her best to interfere in Western Ukraine as well because economic success of that country is a death knell for the Russian Mir.

Also a sovereign Ukraine is almost an existential issue for post Communist states in Eastern/Central Europe.

France which has 1000 years of history and friendly links with that part of the world will come to understand this.
Lots of people intermarried. Lots of sympathies.

As long as America can be rallied with Eastern Europeans with the aid of the UK which wants Russia weaker, and France and Germany not as influential, the goal can be achieved.

Oh shame. The poor Quebecois. A small minority surrounded by a vast continent of English speakers who just refuse to change because of French arrogance. Are you against an Afrikaner independent homeland then?

France will veto it under current conditions.

The US taxpayer isn't keen on more dead wood.
