And what else exactly where they expecting from oppressive regime like Russia?
Russia doesn't even care about their own soldiers or voters , in which universe anyone can think that it will give a hoot for them?

What amazes me, is that lots of Russians think, that on some reason the west would like to attack them.
On one side they are the strongest , then they fear that someone will attack them , what? 6 Russian wars later?

Also if anyone waits for any empathy from them towards Ukraine, they haven't thought what Russia did to Chechnya.

That is how you "bind" a nation together. You create an external enemy to get everyone to pull together to "fight" the enemy. Even if it was a made up enemy. Everyone does it. We have parallels in South Africa with the "Rooi Gevaar" and then "Die Swart Gevaar". Governments uses that to create a certain narrative to get people to think in a certain way.

Considering Chechnya:
The Russian people are a strange bunch indeed. They have a vast number of different ethnicity people within their borders, but it is clear that those is Moscow and St Petersburg considers themselves to be "pure" Russians.
Other ethnicities are "lesser" Russians and sort of expendable. We got a glimpse into Russian propaganda as well, depending towards whom it is aimed. If it is aimed towards the "uneducated" then a certain narrative is provided, but if it is aimed at the middle/upper classes and to the west, then a different narrative is created.
It seems that the lower classes then follows the "it is our duty to protect the motherland" easier and will willfully send their sons and farthers to die. Whereas the middle class and elites have more access to "better" information and that would not work on them. You can compare North Korea for instance. The elites children are send to study in Western nations, the plebs are used as drones. I still can't phatom how Kim, who studied in the west and appeared progressive, suddenly became a maniac when his farther died and he took over the "Leader" position. Power corrupts. Absolute power creates a monster. And that is what Putin is becoming. But for the Russian lower class he is doing what he needs to do to protect Russia. They either lap up what they are fed, or know not to question.

They will sacrifice millions of "lesser" Russians to claim parts of Ukraine and will see that as a worthwhile sacrifice. Something which would be considered an anathema to a western person. In Russia the State is important, in Western society the individual wants to self-actuate and reap personal benefits.

When Russia was booted out of the international payments network Swift, for example, China was expected to step in and build an alternative in alliance with Moscow’s central bank.

But, says Ash, “President Xi is angry because Putin lied about his intentions towards Ukraine. Now the invasion has gone ahead, it has triggered a cost-of-living crisis in China that makes worse Xi’s other economic problems.” Also, he adds, “Xi doesn’t want to upset the US too much.”

Yakov Feygin, a Russia expert at the Berggruen Institute in the US, agrees that China has rejected Putin’s overtures to circumvent sanctions. India is also likely to be wary of sanctions-busting, he says. “It was a major flaw in Putin’s strategy to think China would bail him out. It was a colossal delusion.”

They also announced they have not helped Russia militarily.

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said that his country had never provided Russia with weapons for the war against Ukraine, reported The Washington Post, citing the minister’s words at the Shangri-La Dialogue defense conference in Singapore on June 12.
He called the relations between Russia and China a "partnership, not an alliance."

Yeah man, they flattened whole neighourhoods and destroyed key infrastructure with their long range of artillery just like they are doing now in East Ukraine... Wait wait, no they only discovered they could actually do all that after they left Kiev and moved their troops to East Ukraine. If only they knew back then...
Wel why would you do that if you thought you could take it in 3 days??

Daft twats thought the Ukrainians would welcome them with open arms...

Hell of a conspiracy theory there. At the moment these sanctions look like a swing that is ending as a collective dick punch of western economies.

It is speeding dedollarization and forcing the majority of the world to come up with an alternative to the current financial system that is being abused by the USA.
Nope its putting Russia in their own little caccoon and only able to trade with a few partners.
And after the losses that were made I dont see many western companies jumping back in again for a LONG time.
Russia has also not make a case for themselves after appropriating planes, businesses etc

They tried to take it and failed.

I watched the clip. He says - I'll only quote the relevant part "...that's not the question. The question is at what price are you willing to pay for peace, how much territory, how much independence, how much sovereignty, how much freedom, how much democracy are you willing to sacrifice for peace"

Nowhere in that clip does he suggest Ukraine should cede territory for peace.

I have to say I agree.

Also Stoltenberg is saying that it's all up to Ukraine. They will provide weapons for her to defend her sovereignty. We have detractors here who claim the West has been spurring Ukraine on to fight Russia, what's that BS phrase, they'll "fight Russia to the last Ukrainian".

Oleksii Pavlysh, Ekonomichna pravda — MONDAY 13 JUNE 2022, 15:08

Near Nova Kakhovka and Berislav, Kherson Oblast, the Russian military is forcing farmers to hand over 70% of the harvest to Crimean buyers.

This was reported by the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on Facebook.

It is said that purchase prices [offered by Crimean buyers] are sometimes about 10% of the retail price.

"At the same time, there is a ban on the export of crops to the territories controlled by Ukraine. There are cases when entrepreneurs distribute strawberries and cherries to the population for free," the statement said.

Russian shopping malls lose up to 30 percent of footfall, developer’s son says

Russian shopping malls are “de-energised” and have lost up to 30 percent of their footfall following the exodus of Western brands, the son of one of Russia’s most prominent property developers was quoted as saying.

Emin Agalarov, a pop star and first vice president at the Crocus Group founded by his billionaire father Aras Agalarov, was quoted by the RBC media outlet as saying the loss of key tenants could spell the end for shopping malls altogether.

“If you have a luxury shopping centre, you need Prada, Chanel, Louis Vuitton; if it’s the middle category – Zara, H&M, Reebok, Adidas,” RBC quoted Emin Agalarov as saying in an interview. “And if you don’t have them, then the venue becomes depersonalised.”
