Despite staunch opposition by the Russian Federation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is all set to address the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Earlier on Friday, September 16, the 193-member General Assembly voted to make an exception to permit the embattled President to deliver a pre-recorded speech. More than 100 nations, including India, voted through a video statement to allow the Ukrainian President to speak at the high-level UNGA session.

The leaders of China and India expressed unease over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while President Vladimir Putin threatened to step up attacks on civilian infrastructure after his forces suffered reverses.

Russian troops ‘likely too weak’ to halt Ukraine advance: ISW​

The Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in its Saturday report that satellite imagery suggested Ukraine troops crossed over to the east bank of the Oskil river in the Kharkiv region, placing artillery there.
The river, which flows south from Russia into Ukraine, had been a natural break in the newly emerged front lines since Ukraine launched its push about a week ago.
“Russian forces are likely too weak to prevent further Ukrainian advances along the entire Oskil River if Ukrainian forces choose to resume offensive operations,” the institute said.
