It's no more than 3k according to Tass. They were caused by Ukraine, the separatists and Russian soldiers.

He forgets that this was all caused by Russia's Imperialistic ambitions.
Arming Ukraine, Nato ideas and even UN is all a direct result of Russia's actions.
Russia's own foreign advisors told him they had a draft agreement with Ukraine right before Russia invaded and Putin dismissed it.
