Quebec would be independent if Canada treats their French speakers with 1/10 of the disrespect that Ukraine has towards their Russian minority.
Funny it's said Zelensky grew up speaking Russian at home. Even more funny that Ukraine had pro-Russia leadership until they got fed up with corruption and ousted it in a vote of no confidence.

erm Yanukovych was ousted in a coup d'état.
Which brings Cohen to another prevailing media myth: that what occurred on Maidan in February 2014 was a “democratic revolution.” Whether it was in fact a “revolution” can be left to future historians, though most of the oligarchic powers that afflicted Ukraine before 2014 remain in place four years later, along with their corrupt practices. As for “democratic,” removing a legally elected president by threatening his life hardly qualifies. Nor does the peremptory way the new government was formed, the constitution changed, and pro-Yanukovych parties banned. Though the overthrow involved people in the streets, this was a coup. How much of it was spontaneous and how much directed, or inspired, by high-level actors in the West also remains unclear. But one other myth needs to be dispelled. The rush to seize Yanukovych’s residence was triggered by snipers who killed some 80 or more protesters and policemen on Maidan. It was long said that the snipers had been sent by Yanukovych, but it has now been virtually proven that the shooters were instead from the neofascist group Right Sector among the protesters on the square. (See, for example, the reports of the scholar Ivan Katchanovski.)

Correct, in a war between Russia and Turkey, Turkey might have the upperhand. But Russia also has access to the wider ocean through its renewed ties with Iran. It's part of the new Great Game.

But again the cognitive dissonance is strong here, either Russia is a landlocked country with an economy the size of Italy and an army that cannot win a front line war in Ukraine.
Or Russia is a great power that justifies a military budget that is beyond absurd and this massive international response.

To put it differently, if Italy were to attack Greece tomorrow would be take seriously the claim that Mario Drachi is trying to rebuild the Roman Empire? That is as absurd as thinking that Putin is going to be at the strait of Gibraltar tomorrow.

And how easy are the Straits of Hormuz to blockade Nico? You're not much of a strategist, are you?

And those Russian ships better avoid the sunken fake Iranian aircraft carrier that is in their harbour entrance. Here's a link to how useless the Iranian navy is:

The Iranian Navy seems to have more bad luck than most when it comes to warship accidents. On December 5 2021 their newest warship, IRIS Talayieh, which has not yet been commissioned, capsized in a partially flooded dry dock. The incident occurred in Bandar Abbas, Iran's primary naval base. It follows a spate of other major incidents over the past few years.

However there have been at least four other major accidents since 2018. On January 10, 2018 the frigate IRIS Damavand, sunk after rounding on a sea wall during a storm. Like Talayieh, it was a brand new Moudge Class light frigate. Its loss, so soon after entering service, was seen as a major blow to Iran's modernization efforts.

Then on May 11, 2020 the Support Vessel IRIS Konarak, was hit by a missile during live firing exercises. It caught fire, essentially destroying the superstructure and partially sinking the boat.

On Jul 31, 2020 a fake Aircraft Carrier, used as a target in wargames, sunk accidently during tow. It nearly blocked the entrance to Bandar Abbas harbor and was a hazard to navigation for months until it was finally broken up, partly by the tide. Unlike the other examples tis was part of the IRGC, not the regular navy.

And finally, before tis latest accident, the veteran fleet replenishment ship IRIS Kharg caught fire and sunk on June 2 2021.

If the the Straits of Hormuz is closed, it will have ripple effects in the world's oil markets, including the oil that South Africa imports.
The Strait of Malacca and Suez Canal is also easy to close, but an idiot would do so.

Russia's main naval base in the Black Sea, Sevastopol, is guarded by the latest S-400 air-defense system. Despite the Ukraine War eroding the mystique surrounding many of Russia's major weapon systems, the S-400 is still regarded as very potent. It has a strategic as well as tactical employment. It is deployed to exert a high cost on any force attacking important Russian areas, particularly in the initial period of war (IPW).

The real S-400 missiles have recently been moved from their permanent launch site however. Russian TV has shown inflatable replacements at the site. These are decoys, a common and well-publicised Russian tactic.

Every military uses decoys.... It's an age old tactic.

All countries recruit from an uninformed population.

Rubbish. Professional militaries such as those aligned to NATO go through Psychological, Aptitude, IQ, medical, fitness and many other tests. I was sent to the Military Medical Institute for my tests before being allowed to attest as a member of the SADF.

You have never served in any military anywhere. How would you know the recruitment requirements? Liar.

Wasn't it a common SADF tactic too, although the SADF used mostly wooden/metal models.

Those tests are not very difficult to pass,
Militaries recruit from young men who don't have a lot of life experience. It's easy to manipulate them.

The question was why they are not independent like you'd like your Russians to be?
You're asking me to speak for them ....
But theoretically if Orania declares independence tomorrow, they will be crushed by a larger SA and an international community. Their best current bet is the status quo.

I actually do think that small attempts can be made to reoccupy Pripyat or at least a programme can be launched to see if animals can be resettled, I wouldn't go balls against the wall though. This actually isn't a controversial view. The effect of low dose radiation is currently being debated in the literature.

There has been a proposal to build a high nuclear exposure zone in Mexico to test the effect on animal population. Despite predictions that Chernobyl would become a wasteland, the animals seem to be unbothered by the radiation. One reason being that they don't watch scary Hollywood films.

So, why aren't you and your family living there then? See what those creatures look like in 1000 years' time from the genetic damage done by the radiation.

You just need to spent 5 minutes looking at the recycled crisis actors in the media and the convenient timing to realize what is going on. False flags are used to turn public opinion.

But the Witness testimony contradicts the official narrative.

Yeah, five minutes on the sites you visit but not five minutes on the sites of the red cross. ICCC nor amnesty...

Your body has a natural mechanism to repair its DNA. It's not a big concern.
The biggest question is cancer, thyroid cancer in particular.

The irreversible DNA damage occurs at enormously high dosages..

Oh? Name the oil ports in the Straits of Hormuz then?

Ukraine staged the massacre in Bucha and Mariopul and then went on to blame Russia for it.
The Ukrainian far right slaughtered innocent people in the Maidan streets in 2014 and then went on to blame their government for it.

False flag operations are part of modern warfare. It was used in Syria and it is used in Ukraine.
