For the British Army they take you if you are a 30 percenter. Well... actually a 32 or so percenter to be more accurate. That's for general recruitment so for conscription the standards would probably be lower.

The army cannot set their test requirements to be to high, that would make them an academic institution. It's set above average, the US has a policy to cut of the bottom 30%, but that might even be changing soon as they are struggling to find enough recruits.

The woman contacted police when she noticed video clips of drunken men in military garb popping up on her Google Drive.

“Broken doors, lots of stolen appliances, stolen clothes – including lingerie; and, of course, a (stolen) washing machine – the calling card of the enemy horde that came to ravage our land,” said Bolvinov.

“They were taking pictures on the stolen (phone) while being too stupid to disable cloud sync.”

He noted that the Kremlin troops were visibly astounded to see an exotic bottle of liquor, with a scorpion and a snake inside.

“Most of their identities have already been confirmed,” the detective added.

“Notably, they are from major Russian cities – Moscow, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod. You’d think they would have seen liquor bottles and washing machines before.”

Oooooh! Will it be the same for Covid in 70 years time then?

+1

So there was an increase in thyroid cancer and some other reports of cancers. Epidemiologic studies are not that precise though. Genetic mutations have been shown in the young. The thing is that most people were quickly moved out of the area, there was a cleanup and off course this was an accident. Secondly we don't know if the Russians blow up Zaporizhzhia whether the effects will be worse or not, eg how many reactors will get blown up, how much material will be ejected, how quickly the containment will occur, clean up, what sort of winds etc.

I'm sorry but an increase in thyroid carcinoma is not a joke. Yes there are many ways to die and many illnesses to become sick off but WTF should Russia incur this on people in the region? F-them.

Ukraine had its Velvet Revolution / Independence in 1991. Lots of corruption etc, but things were not bad. Then Yanukovich was ousted in 2010 for the first time. He resigned so it was a good sign of democracy.

Your country joined NATO though. Ukraine would like the same.

Unfortunately the east of Ua wanted nothing to do with the western part. Czechoslovakia solved the same issue peacefully as both sides agreed to the separation. In Ukraine, this was not the case. Then the US got involved in the west and Russia in the east.

That's not true. Polls showed that more than half the people there were not in favour of joining Russia or secession. Russia stirred up trouble in the only way they know.

Look Russia has always been despotic. They only know that. It's hard for you to get this but study the history of various countries in the region for example something like this vs what Russia had, absolute monarchy. They had some semblance of democracy for a short time before Bolsheviks took over and then only until Putin took over after Gorbachev. They don't know anything else.

Czechs and Slovaks would not have seperated so amicably if they were spurred on by external forces. That's simply the case. Their seperation was moot though as they are now both in the Euro kolkhoz as some people call it.

If Russia was the UK I would entertain your sanitized and kumbaya version of events. Alas we know Russia is Russia.

Maidan happened and Minsk 2 presented great opportunity for final dissolution. Unfortunately (yet again), nobody followed through. And here we are.

Nope. Russia broke 70% of Minsk II. Remember Russia promised in Budapest not to fsck around with Ukraine. Russia simply cannot be trusted and they refused UN peacekeepers in the region. They now started a war of aggression. Russia had no interest in the area. Ukraine is not Russia. I don't even know why you legitimise Russia here. They have no right to decide for Ukraine. If at some later date Ukraine were to seperate, it would have to be peaceful and not under duress with Russian paid for militias armed with tanks promoting seperation. I am sure you know that was not the case when Czechs and Slovaks split up.

Whether you like it or not, someone will have to negotiate with Russia, otherwise this thing will keep carrying on, killing people on both sides.

You do understand that the Russians negotiated with the remnants of Hitler's forces too, as did the Allies.
Americans had to negotiate with Imperial Japan. They even had to pussy foot around their emperor.
Saying people will negotiate does not mean people will concede. Usually wars end in negotiations. Maybe in the time of Genghis Khan when he slaughtered everyone in a city they didn't.

Saying Russia must go is like shouting at clouds to go away, instead of trying to find shelter.

Russia is losing this war. Their economy is collapsing and their army is in shambles. They are slowly going away.

I do not agree here.

This is bs and anyone with half a brain knows it. Niether donbass nor crimea will submit to a nationalist western ukraine regime without a fight. The only question is who dies...donbass and crimea or ukraine.
I know who ultimately pays the price: ordinary civilians who are either forced into the war by repressive regime or Russia's indiscriminate shelling of residential areas. We've seen videos depicting men being abducted. Truth is Russia's might is in the endless supply of artillery.

Russia as a mediator in Ukraine has failed.
