Perhaps send a letter to your European president. He must be an idiot to not have thought up these golden nuggets himself.. Maybe use that as a platform to run in future elections? If we all sing Kumbaya, the Russians who entered a sovereign territory, which did not attack them first, will just mellow out and we'll all gather round the bonfire roasting marshmallows and drinking kwas. Putin will come too. Bring some vodka. A dancing bear or two and maybe Tatu will sing for everyone.
Meanwhile the Poles are itching for a fight. Both, with Russia and stirring with Germany, whose currently weakened.

Once again, why nobody is calling for immediate ceasefire without preconditions is beyond me.

There should be immense international pressure for immediate pause in fighting.

Once civilians have stopped dying, the world can carry on playimg politics.

Do you still not get it?

Ukraine does not want to fight. They are defending themselves.

If Russia stops fighting, Ukraine will stop fighting and they will gladly hold their hand on their journey back to Russia.

If Ukraine stops fighting, Russia will not stop.

It's like saying there should be a ceasefire between a rapist and the woman who is trying to fight him off.

oh god you are going to use NATO as a source to debunk NATO's own lies?

puhlease
Feel free to provide a contrary agreement then. Putins notion is well shot down. It's smoke and mirrors with no substance in reality. There were other posts with more in depth analysis or docs in previous threads months ago, but Putins vision/mission/fairytale just keep being accepted as truth with no basis.

the 20% of Ukraine's lost territory begs to differ on that "no achievements" bit

Try keep up, Russia has claimed 20% but only have 15% and getting less every day.

Russia controls more than 90,000 square kilometres (34,750 square miles) of territory or about 15 percent of Ukraine’s total area – roughly the size of Portugal or Jordan.

I would also question the control part tbh, merely that they have military personnel in the area would be more accurate.

What is your problem with NATO?
oh hell, where do I start?

- it was formed as a counter to the USSR which no longer exists?
- it has no purpose in the modern world whatsoever?
- it essentially is a cash cow for the MIC?
- it claims to be a defensive alliance, yet Yugoslavia would like a word about that one ...

etc

and just to add and correct you. The source is not NATO itself, however it is consistent with everything I have managed to glean regarding this alleged breach of an agreement by Nato with Russia.

NATO Review is a free online magazine offering expert opinion, analysis and debate on a broad range of security issues.

It looks at different aspects of NATO’s role in today’s fast-changing and unpredictable security environment. It also covers wider challenges, such as cyberattacks, hybrid warfare, the impact of social media, the security implications of climate change and scarcity of resources, and the need to strengthen the role of women in peace and security.

It is important to note that what is published in NATO Review does not constitute the official position or policy of NATO or member governments. NATO Review seeks to inform and promote debate on security issues. The views expressed by authors are their own.

This magazine has existed for 70 years and still upholds the task it was given all those years ago: to 'contribute to a constructive discussion of Euro-Atlantic security issues’.

Russia seems to be exactly like the USSR.

I went on a holiday in Croatia, bullet holes everywhere. Yugoslavia should complain to the UN.

Nice to see that you still struggle to grasp reality.

Russia still exists and yearns for the days of the USSR. Name change only.

- it has no purpose in the modern world whatsoever?

Since when are alliances outdated? It also standardises the equipment and ammunition of it's members. Even South Africa and several other non NATO countries such as Australia and New Zealand use the NATO standard and their stock numbering system. The South African designation for NATO standard equipment produced in SA is XXXX-18-XXX-XXXX

- it claims to be a defensive alliance, yet Yugoslavia would like a word about that one ...

Yugoslavia was a UN approved intervention operation, as was Afghanistan with coalition countries involved. You can't do that without standardised equipment.
