I am really curious how this happens. It can't be wing tipping, they probably fly into those things by accident and then the whole jet is rekt. There are probably even more damaged UA jets if this is the case that 3 are lost. Seems like a really bad way to take out those drones if they just keep losing jets that way. that being said, if they did nothing those shaheds would have potentially destroyed civilian infrastructure or vital military equipment. It is a really bad (super cheap drone vs expensive jet) trade-off but probably justifiable if it saves civilian lives.
I don't get where this whole "tipping" concept comes from for modern drones. With the old gyro controlled V-1s of WW2 it made sense as they used simple mechanical gyros but modern drones use electronic gyros similar to how your phone detects motion and orientation. Even the cheapest commercially available drone autopilot systems (such as APM or Pixhawk) have self correction so they will restabalize the drone and set it back on course if something happens. You would have to hit the drone with enough force to damage a control surface and these things are practically flying mines, so that it the stupidest idea in the history of stupid ideas.

That is why I am saying the jets probably fly into the drones by accident and then the jet explodes. I don't fly jets so I am only speculating, but I do think it is difficult to dodge a swarm of those shahed drones.

Let's Go!

Murphy's right about this.

Redirect the 280 AMRAAMs to Ukraine, and absolutely, positively remove the Patriot batteries from the country that's decided to fsck with oil production to hurt the US this week; the country that dismembers WaPo journalists with a bone saw; the same country whose citizens made up 80% of the 9/11 terrorists.

Give those Patriots to Ukraine and NATO partners right now.

They'll make a huge difference.

They do? Which one and how much?

But also It will all flow through Engens facility in Durban, so its not actually from Total really.
The ones I've been to, ridge road and n2 nandi drive. They have 50ppm and 10ppm pumps.

If that is the case, why only total selling 10ppm? Sasol only sell around Gauteng, I haven't been to engen in a while, so not sure if they have it.

They could have a proximity self-detonation system built-in perhaps. That or the jets got in too close relying on their guns and shrapnel from the drone would be very damaging if ingested by the engines. All speculation though...

According to What the Ukrainian Air Force Has in the Sky - FLYING Magazine Ukraine had 318 aircraft.

Wikipedia says they have lost 152 aircraft . List of aircraft losses during the Russo-Ukrainian War - Wikipedia

That is almost 50 % of the airforce.

This guy says that Ukraine has 80 % of pre war aircraft left to fight.

Russia’s Blunted Air Support Crippled Ground Campaign: US General (thedefensepost.com)

US Air Force General James B. Hecker

“The general explained that restricting Russian air power allowed the Ukrainian air force to retain 80 percent of its pre-invasion aircraft seven months into the war.”

They lose 50 % but have 80 % left to fight.

Numbers and statistics mean nothing if you go and make it up

Russia claimed to have destroyed almost all their air force early into the conflict, yet today are limited to where and when they fly.

It's mind boggling. In an age of sophisticated and highly accurate weapons, they still believe the old Soviet WW2 doctrine of overwhelming numbers thrown at the enemy as cannon fodder resulting in slaughter. And their top down command structure that relies on centralised control instead of devolving command to the lowest possible level as the West does. The reason the West has sergeants as tank commanders with a lieutenant as a tank troop commander.

And their push logistics where someone 1000 km from the front decides what the front line needs instead of the pull logistics of the West where the front line decides what the front line needs and it's not stolen in transit.

All aided by corrupt officers that treat soldiers as lower beings resulting in an over reliance on officers, under training of NCO's, fragging of officers, low discipline and morale and the need to stockpile everything in one place so the badly treated and paid soldiers don't steal it to sell for booze.
Putin is not a military man. His forte is covert action. There is little comparison between the required skillsets or even ways of thinking.
Putin's advisors and aides are rated for their ability to collaborate above all other considerations. Acquaintances from his time in the KGB, his time in St. Petersburg, organised crime contacts or even such crazy sources as his Judo/Hockey clubs as well as a little cabal formed between him and others there while he was on holiday at a resort once.
Primary drivers: Greed, paranoia as well as getting kicks from seeing how far he can push people's buttons.

They received the entire north Macedonia fleet of soviet planes and also loads of spare parts from unspecified countries, I think Romania and Bulgaria , supposedly to fix old planes they had, but I think it basically ended up getting entire planes in parts.

So, the ANC learnt well from their communist masters then.
