Why not ? It is all in the ability to project force..
The us for one has spent a lot of time and trouble working on doing that.
Never mind they have allies in that side of the world that can provide basing etc
Arguably too costly and it leads to demoralizing your own population to fight for something they don't believe in.
Why should Americans die to save North Korea from itself in the modern day.?
The desire to build a bigger empire just for the sake of it is also not there anymore, evidence by the fact that the US can expand and incorporate some of the territories they hold as full states but they don't seem to want to do that.

Historically it is a sign that an empire is dying when they over extend and then still lash out violently and randomly to project power.

The real world isn't call of duty were you just run around killing everyone.

Why did the US fail in the middle east? They didn't have local support. As easy as that. You cannot hold territory without local support.
You have seen the partisan activity in places like Kherson, Mariupol, Melitopol..

“Attacks on the Ukrainian mainland, for example, in the Kherson region, are more likely local efforts and have so far been aimed mostly at Russian occupation authorities and local collaborators to weaken Russia’s control of these areas and send a message of defiance and hope to the population suffering under Russian occupation there

All about perspective,.

I just recently cleared my entire ignore list without consequence, but it seems the cretins have now noticed that their bans do not apply to this newest iteration of the thread...

Will have to start a new list but I'm still gonna give them flak.

I don't ask them questions or argue with them, I just make fun of them for being so extremely stupid.

I was doing that for a while as well but don't have the time for nonsense at the moment so simple solution, see nonsense, ignore the poster, thread is much easier to read :)

You can't really do total war on the other side of the planet. Or a meaningful occupation were you convert the territory into your own Japan is probably the best example where the US succeeded and the exception. Even installing a puppet government to hold a territory usually fail because corruption and it just becomes an unsustainable money pit.
Russia succeeded with Chechnya.
