Ukraine is a sovereign state. It was Russia which raised an insurgency. Also just because some people rebel does not mean they are now a valid second government. The world is one of rules and not fairy tales bud.

Russia signed the Budapest memorandum. They are also bound by the UN Charter. They failed on both.

“Some of the same electronic components obtained through the criminal scheme have been found in Russian weapons platforms seized on the battlefield in Ukraine,” the Department of Justice said in an announcement, adding that the accused developed a “sophisticated network” of schemes that “undermined security, economic stability and rule of law around the world.”

The group of co-conspirators also allegedly shipped hundreds of millions of barrels of oil from Venezuela to Russian and Chinese entities, including at least one sanctioned oligarch.

So all in all Howdy shows he knows nothing. He wants to use special pleading to make Ukraine the exception because some people had gripes there, and Russia funded an insurgency which led to a war which killed people and now Russia invaded the rest of Ukraine beyond what they even wanted to 'annex' (puke), Ukraine must give in and divide itself up because some guys in the Kremlin decided to fuel an insurgency and start a war.

Take home message is, if some powerful guy invadedes you after fueling an insurgency, just roll over and give him your country. And he is excused. That's the way to handle disagreements in the 21st century.
