So glad that you popped onto the thread here to educate us about Ukraine.

We have been waiting for someone like you to come along. Someone who knows what he's talking about. Someone who's views are based on facts and logic. Someone with true wisdom.
Well according to 99% of the esteemed knowledgeable members on this thread ( and their media sources ) for almost a year now :
1. Putin's health should have seriously deteriorated by now because of some serious illness
2. Russia should be bankrupt by now.
3. Russia should have run out of missiles
4. Russia should have retreated back into the motherland because of inferior weapons

Either China and India actually committing militarily on behalf of Russia, at any level of this conflict, is a naïve fairy tale. Russia's their bargain mineral commodity shop. As far as other, more valuable trade is concerned... Nothing much to speak of. Their commitments to Russia will go no further than their own economic interest. Which Russia cannot serve. You speak as if China is more likely to directly bring arms to bear on the side of Russia than India. The truth is that India is more likely to than China. Though it is itself a vanishingly small likelihood.

Are they happy to callously make use of the situation for diplomatic leverage? Yes.
Are they happy to get bargain price resources as Russia grows more desperate? Yes.
Are they happy about any opportunity to gain any level of relative prestige by acting in ways that undermine the Western world subtly? Yes.
Are they willing to just lose the Western world as trade partners?.. No. They'll fight to maintain those relations. Heck... Cry, swear, shout, lie, whatever works.

That's of course just my opinion. From a pragmatic, realistic perspective. Bu then... Russia was stupid enough to start this thing. There's no telling if other nations are prone to similar stupidity.
I always wonder where this idea comes from that China will step into the breech for Russia. Nothing in Chinese foreign or domestic policy even remotely indicates this. Nothing I have read in their (state controlled) media either indicates this. If anything what I have read is the exact opposite, China is distancing themselves more and more from Russia.

I spoke to my Chinese money guy about this once, and he said that China and the west have an effective economic M.A.D. in place. Neither side can afford a war. Their relationship is prickly, but nowhere near a war footing.

A capture of the missile just before it struck the residential apartment block in Ukraine. 100% Culpability of Russia for that strike is clear.

Saw the source of their anti-missile claim. Some interview with an Ukraine official who uhm regrettably made an assumption and with really unconvincing body language said anti air had hit it without all the facts.

To put it another way, he ****ed up.
It turned out it's basically impossible to shoot that kind of missile out of the sky.

And the Russian missile is far, from being a precision weapon. That was purely a terror weapon with huge rng.

Think the Ukrainian guy actually resigned now because of his statement.

Russian invaders plan to change the status of some of the captured towns in Luhansk Oblast to villages in order to reduce further expenses, in particular on social infrastructure.

Source: Luhansk Oblast Military Administration (OMA)

Quote: "The so-called leadership of the ‘republic’ [the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic – ed.] is considering the possibility of restructuring some towns to the level of villages. Local administrations, staff of public utilities will be abolished or reduced, the invaders promise even more limited budgets, optimisation of the network of hospitals, schools and kindergartens.

There's no money, but people are holding on, observing the tyranny of the occupiers."

Details: Luhansk OMA also reported that the occupiers stopped the work of all mines in the village of Khrustalne.

According to the OMA, Russian companies that came to "launder money" completely dismantled the roofs of many apartment buildings and fled. For more than a month and a half, the houses have been without roofs, which caused regular flooding of not only the upper floors, but also many others.

OMA reports that due to high humidity in the apartments, the temperature is no more than +15 degrees Celsius even with the heating, and fungus has formed on the walls.

Kazakhstan ends indefinite stays for Russians

Kazakhstan will no longer allow Russian citizens to stay in the Central Asian country indefinitely by doing so-called visa runs every three months, according to a government directive published this week.
The Kazakh government will discontinue the practice from January 26 and will require Russians and citizens of other members of the Eurasian Economic Union, a post-Soviet bloc, to leave the country for at least 90 days after the permitted three-month stay.
Tens of thousands of Russians, mostly young and middle-aged men, relocated to Kazakhstan last year as Moscow, embroiled in the Ukraine conflict, launched its first conscription campaign since World War II.

Uk Ministry of Defence refutes Russian claims on deadly strike on Dnipro apartment block

An intelligence update by the UK Ministry of Defence has refuted Russian claims that a Ukrainian air defence missile was responsible for the destruction of an apartment block in the city of Dnipro, which resulted int he death of more than 40 people.
“An AS-4 KITCHEN large anti-ship missile, launched from a Tu-22M3 BACKFIRE medium bomber, highly likely struck a block of flats in Dnipro city which resulted in the death of at least 40 people,” the Ministry of Defence assessment found.
“KITCHEN is notoriously inaccurate when used against ground targets as its radar guidance system is poor at differentiating targets in urban areas,” it added.

I been wondering since the start of this war how much the Russian are trying to provoke the West into giving away their intel capabilities. This would be another case in point. Will they provide details eventually at The Hague to bolster evidence? Probably not it will expose their capabilities.
