Prior to Feb 2022 most of NATO would never have allowed Ukraine to join NATO. Even Ukraine joining the EU was likely to be vetoed by some EU nations.

Even now I doubt there is 100% support in NATO for Ukraine to join NATO.

Using this as justification for Russia invading Ukraine is totally BS

TBH, I think its way more complicated than that... Yes in their state prior to the Russian invasion they would probably have not been allowed to join NATO or the EU, but they were working with the EU to move more to the West and eventually they would have been allowed in... but it would have taken decades.

Now though, I think they're looking at a much faster onramp into the EU and NATO once they can remove Russia from their country.

"The main obstacle" to Ukraine's ascension to the alliance, F. Stephen Larrabee, a former Soviet specialist on the U.S. National Security Council wrote in 2011, "is not Russian opposition… but low public support for membership in Ukraine itself." Ukrainian support for joining NATO "is much lower in Ukraine in comparison to other states in Eastern Europe," he added, at just 22-25 percent overall.

By backing a far-right coup in Kiev, the US overcame the inconvenient hurdle of Ukrainian popular opinion.

Yeah cause nationalists love joining international alliances, coalitions and unions.

Top level kek.

here is some more 'kek' for you. from your lauded 'sources' before the flip flop.

The U.S and European Union may want to save Crimeans from themselves. But the Crimeans are happy right where they are.

One year after the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula in the Black Sea, poll after poll shows that the locals there -- be they Ukrainians, ethnic Russians or Tatars are mostly all in agreement: life with Russia is better than life with Ukraine.

LOL

The fate of Wintershall’s Russian business is a sign of the plight facing western companies as they try to extract themselves from a pariah country under stringent international sanctions.

Plight? Trying to extract themselves?

Nope. That's BS. They selfishly stayed in Russia cause they were making money while sharing those profits with the Russian government, fully aware that the Russian government was using that money to kill Ukranian civilians.

And then the Russian government rewarded them by emptying their accounts and confiscating their properties.

And now they wanna cry about it?

Serves them fcking right. In fact they got off lightly.

NO Russia did not join NATO. Crimea is one of the points you all love your propoganda checklists.

I will be here everyday dispelling the BS. No thanks needed.

Your comments on this relating to the annexation..?

According to the three memoranda,[5] Russia, the US and the UK confirmed their recognition of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine becoming parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and effectively abandoning their nuclear arsenal to Russia, and that they agreed to the following:

  1. Respect the signatory's independence and sovereignty in the existing borders.
