Okay I will tell you how the US being on Ukrainians side and supplying them with weapons capable of targeting Moscow is escalating the war.
Currently Moscow has not been a target, if it is targeted that increases the theater of operations and escalates the war by definition by including more targets and people and longer range weapons.
By definition if Ukraine just lost without US help the war would be over the opposite of an escalation.
That would be a de-escalation correct, as morally indefensible as it might be considering how many Ukrainians would die at the hands of the neighborhood bully.

Russia has been shelling Kyiv throughout this conflict, how is giving Ukraine the ability to target Moscow an escalation? Or is only one side allowed to target the capital of the other?

You answered your own question.
They don't have that ability, you give it to them, that is an increase/escalation of their abilities and potential targets.

You are trying to be clever with semantics when you are just wrong, this is stupid.

Yes, the war will be over but Putin will start his nonsense again in a few years with another country. It is a good thing that most of the world stand up to the neighbourhood bully.

I don't get the irrational fear and hate of Putin. But whatever. The Russians in eastern Ukraine who was about to be whipped out by Nazis probably feel differently.

If you start a war with someone you should be prepared for whatever comes your way... Moaning that your victim is suddenly able to inflict the same kind of punishment that you have been dishing out the whole war by calling it an "escalation" is pretty pathetic.

I strongly disagree. This conflict was escalated to full blown indiscriminate warfare in February already (by Russia). There have been no further escalations since then.

In fact the only escalation that's left above the current level is the use of weapons of mass destruction.

Furthermore, the only ones who have the ability to de-escalate are Russia.

They do have the capacity to hit Moscow, remember the bridge?

Yeah blowing up a innocent truck driver in a terrorist act. How could I forget.

But as I understand the Crimea bridge is not exactly in Moscow.

Yup, agree, war is war, short of WMD's I don't see how involving the rest of Russia amounts to an escalation.

Could be, but if Putin was concerned about Russians in Ukraine he could have given them safety inside Russia.

Absolutely no reason to start another stupid war.
Some people believe in fighting for their homes.
Some flee to Australia. Personal preference I guess. I don't judge people who doesn't want to stay and fight.

Sure, still doesn't give Putin the right to invade another sovereign country.

The sooner Putin learns this the better for all of us.
