"Wining" when your side has more casualties isn't really winning.
War isn't only about killing more people than the enemy. A small nation again a large one could inflict far more casualties on the larger one and still get swamped. The North Vietnamese had far more casualties than the South and last I checked, the vast majority of people consider them the victors of the Vietnam war.

Exactly the same reasons could be given for:
Internment of Japanese people in the US in WW2 (Those filthy Japs cannot be trusted and will form a 5th column)
Internment of Afrikaners in the second Boer war (Those filthy Boers cannot be trusted and will resupply our enemies)
Internment of foreign citizens in Guantanamo bay (Those filthy terrorists cannot be trusted and will form terrorists cells)
Internment of Uighur citizens in China (Those filthy Muslims are terrorists and cannot be trusted)

Here is a hint for you: detention without trial is a bad thing and shouldn't be done. Ditto for banning political parties.

If an individual is actually colluding with an enemy, then charge them with treason and allow them to defend themselves against the charges (obviously this won't work in $hitholes like China, but that is the process in Western democracies. ).
Cool story.

Anyway, moving your false equivalences aside. Medvedchuk was charged for treason and was placed under arrest pending his trial. He was given to the Russian's in a prisoner swap. His party was banned.

He was the man Russia identified to be the leader of Ukraine, upon Russia's successful invasion.

You don't need to ban all opposition parties and seize their assets in order to do that.

Suspending elections whilst the country is still occupied is all that is needed. Then standard rules regarding how you conduct yourself during a war apply. If you make contact with the government (directly or indirectly) of the country that you are at war with, you commit a crime and that is it.

If you recover war plans from the enemy that stipulate how they will use influential politicians from certain parties you have to act.

Banning them is a means to cut their influence. It also demonstrates that you are taking a no tolerance approach for dissent and support for your enemy.

Those assets could have been used to undermine your ability to fight the war effectively.

When you are being bombed, you have little time and effort to arrange huge investigation, run big court proceedings. You focus your energies on the biggest priority, fighting off their invaders.

Hence, why all governments who are facing such dire circumstances, carry out emergency measures, which at that time, with the information they have available, will seem to be the best decision.

Judging them based on peace time norm's speak volumes of your ignorance.

They are busy with more important things than the basic rights of their citizens. Like meeting Sean Penn.

You see you, cannot spend any time dealing with people's individual rights when there is Ben Goddam Stiller there to meet you:

I am suprised we haven't gotten a video yet of Zelensky doing the Jerusalema challenge.
