Using a statistical method based on changes in the population age structure, there were 351,158 excess deaths in 2020 and 678,022 in 2021
So basically it looks like a million extra people died in Russia during the pandemic while the Kremlin played it down in public (I believe as a wider strategy to influence opinion abroad), and Putin himself basically sealed himself in hermetically as far as possible.

Don't know if this was mentioned here before.

Some insight into Russia's MO on the internet. And as expected tons and tons of fake social media accounts stirring **** everywhere.
Encountered a swarm of them on Twitter the other day.

Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nay has raised serious concerns over the alleged deliberate damage to Slovakian MIG-29 fighter jets that were being prepared for transfer to Ukraine. During a press conference at the Slovak Ministry of Defense in Bratislava, Nay accused Russian technicians of intentionally sabotaging the aircraft.

Looks like it's a shell corporation, I would have thought Russian controlled but bizarrely seems to be controlled by a Ukrainian.

The newspaper's investigation found that the person listed as having “significant control” in the firm was Vitalii Poliakov, a 53-year-old Ukrainian.
