He's basically saying: "Comeon! You don't need it! Let us have it!"

I still despise that the Kremlin has consistently dealt with Ukraine as if it doesn't exist. What does Ukraine want? Newsflash Meddo. Ukraine exists! Russia agreed to it's formation. Russia provided security guarantees for it's continued existence. As did the US and the UK. The regime you are part of is a bad joke! Rogue. Pariah! Ukraine is more than 40 million Ukrainians living on over 600 000 km2 of land surrounded by internationally agreed borders!

A country (Russia) talking about other countries as if they don't exists, and have no rights doesn't deserve to be part of the UN!

The thing is the Russians would like the Germans to give them a pass. "You Germans control the barbarians in your region, and we'll control the barbarians in ours, and we can cut a nice deal, like we did all throughout history". Now that Russia has thrown her lot with China, and China with Russia, the Americans are going to push on action on China as well, and there the Germans may not be able to deliver. It's going to be a scary world. Hopefully the US does not abandon Europe.

The problem is that the West still sees Russia as an important stabilizing force. That is an error which still persists. Despite the rhetoric here we still have people pushing that Russia is part of Europe and makes Europe better. But Russia is toxic to Europe. Russian influence needs to be pushed out of Europe. There is even a German language term for this in geopolitical talk, I just can't remember it right now.
Russia's influence is toxic worldwide. And has been since the Soviets started on their campaign to spread Communism.

Russian Federation Council: Russia would have suffered "serious consequences" had it not launched its military operation in Ukraine.

From what I recall they said they had to free their brothers and sisters, who would welcome them with open arms, from the Ukrainian gay Nazi regime led by a Russian speaking married (with a lady) Jewish guy.

But anyway...

What's the reason then for the torture, the large scale murder of civilians (of course incomparable with the 2 million Afghans Russia killed in that war, but still of a ridiculous scale), the kidnappings, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and last but certainly not least... The annexations? Hmm? Did the tea leaves say they have to do any of that to make sure something bad does not happen to Russia?

Nope... From where I'm sitting they don't have a story. No... They have like 50 stories. Many of which are contradictory. Some are even self-contradictory. None of which I have any reason to believe. Since A: They've blatantly, officially told lies from the start of this conflict. Irrefutable lies. From the tippy top of their government. Publicly. On record. B: I have better things to do than to try and sieve out good bits from the propaganda vomit they've spewed across the world since even before this thing started.

Edit: And of course - Option A (Invasion) was the worse choice. Regardless of what threat they perceived. Where Russia is going, nobody wants to be.
