The US does not occupy Japan. They are now guests within Japan. They are welcomed because of the economic benefit that these bases bring and the significant strategic security that having a US base in your country brings.
Japan benefits from them because it implies that they can get away with a smaller military budget. The exception of Okinawa that actually hosts some of these bases.
The US was largely responsible for the Vietnam War. They blocked the 1954 Geneva Accords that were drafted and agreed upon after France was kicked out by Vietnam.
Correct, the US intervened and as with Iraq lied about almost every aspect of the war.
Those accords temporarily split Vietnam along the 17th parallel, with elections to be held in 1956 on the subject of unification. The US ensured that these elections did not take place. North Vietnam then took up arms to enact what those elections would have certified.

the Vietnam story is similar to the Korea one, the US and the USSR (replaced later China when it became powerful) are the main obstacles to unification.

Fair play, for once you provided a link.

Granted I do think Fox News is a bit suspect, but its infinitely better than shyte like The Grayzone.

Also would be interesting, but also understandable to flirt with Iran and Venezuela for oil supplies. They aren't invading sovereign neighbours currently, The US just disagrees with the way the government is run/structured etc.

The US is fine with sending weapons to the Saudis in Yemen to continue their genocide there....

Smile and flirt with the devil, while sharpening your dagger, or go about finding a nice rock. That is diplomacy. If I was Japanese I would not forget.

Right now I think they're trying to convince Venezuela to limit their ties with Russia.

The US imposed sanctions on Japan before Pearl Harbour. Sanctions are a form of warfare. Kind of like Ukraine egging Russia on. It wanted the war. It made them extremely rich and from that wealth we see 800 US bases around the world.
What was Japan doing that led to those sanctions?

Source on the number of US bases being 800?

The number is about right... but I also think it might be misleading potentially.

It might not be 750/800 separate bases physically, but logical the Army/Navy/Airforce could have bases that share the same physical space.

Ukraine had ample gas reserves that they were willing to sell to Europe. Russia unfortunately invaded to make sure they couldn't.
in what universe did Ukraine ever have sufficient reserves to supply Europe?!?

You are aware that:
- the main pipeline from Ukraine to Europe carries mostly Russian gas
- Ukraine couldn't even pay their gas bill to Russia in 2009 for Russian supplied gas (i.e. they don't even have enough to supply themselves)

???

so no, categorically false to claim Ukraine has ample supply for Europe and by extension also false that Russia would invade to prevent them from offering a service that they couldn't offer anyway

You sound jealous.

Your fixation on phallus-related topics this morning is cool, as I said, what ever floats your boat mate, but please keep your kinks to yourself.
I am not the one that started the phallating accusations, that was you lot.

You are advocating for the same conditions that started WW2.
Nope, WW2 was an unnecessary war that ended up not having any of the initial participants win anything. The only real victors were murica, russia and Israel.

The illegal invasion of a sovereign nation and you are supporting that because the invader is more powerful, it must win.
What makes it illegal? The UN says so? The UN has no right to make such declarations.

If Russia did not invade Ukraine, there would be no war, in the same way had the Nazis not invaded Poland, there would have been no war.
If poland had granted the corridor there would have been no war. If Ukraine had stopped it's ethnic cleansing campaign there would have been no war.... there are two sides to everything.

Well, yeah. Russia does it. So why not.

I don't think that Russia is doing it for oil, but point taken. The question I have is if anyone seriously believes that Ukraine is going to end if they get more weapons.

It's very similar to Vietnam. I am sure that the South needed was more training and more weapons...

Local media are reporting that Oleh Khudiakov, the 51-year-old former head of the Public Security Police of the National Police in the Kherson Region, has taken his own life after being held captive by the occupiers.

Source: Most, citing sources in law enforcement

Details: Khudiakov is known to have been in captivity for a week.

The media believe that the occupiers tried to force Khudiakov to cooperate by threatening members of his family. He is survived by his wife and son.

The media outlet Most says that in all likelihood, faced with such a choice, Khudyakov had decided to kill himself.

Background: On 23 June the Russian military released the vice rector of Kherson State University from captivity.

Must be something pretty valuable if not for oil. Something definitely worth fighting for I reckon.

Something like freedom might do it.
Just think of it.... if it was murica they would have brought freedom to the hospital... FREEDOM

This is all BS the same way the murican wars were.
