how so?

Russia has vast energy reserves
the US does not

which one is more motivated to go steal someone else's?
which one has the longest track record of doing just that?
What oil does the US currently own that sits in Iraq?

What Gas does Russia own, that sits in former Ukrainian territory?

8 years of warnings and multiple Minsk accords facilitated somehow lost on you entirely?

How many decades of commitment to a rules based order by dozens of countries somehow lost on you entirely?

So Russia doesn't want to play along with the rules based order anymore...
Well then that's Russia's business. How other countries react in response is their business.

The US and Europe can buy from anybody if they are willing to pay the price. Russia can only sell to people willing to buy so it is in their best interest to eliminate competition namely Ukraine.
Ukraine is selling to China and India?

because Russia's energy exports to those have been hitting record highs, not Europe

Not really true, the US also has huge energy reserves, and USA + Canada is pretty close to the USSR Russian figure.
sure sure

that's why the US is still importing Russian oil even now despite the sanctions they got everyone to buy into

Well Russia did eliminate one of its competitors by invading Crimea in 2014 and taking Ukraine off the table. The world will have been a vastly difference place today if that didn't happen.

You do realise that reserves doesn't mean production?
I realize the things you either do not understand or choose to be ignorant of in this world could fill the actual hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy and then some

none, there is no such thing as a rules based order, there is a law based order which Russia is still abiding by, and the US never has
Russia abiding by international laws? Please. Pull the other one. Only where it's useful. Explains the rest of its actions away by laws Putin dreams up. Like "Ukrainians are Nazis so it's Russia's right and responsibility to perform genocide upon them. And oops! I like this bit of land while I'm at it, so it's only right that we keep it. Once upon a time it was ours anyway. The agreements broken, such as the Budapest memorandum are good for toilet paper."
And Ukraine? What do you consider their score to be on the metric of international law?

But since Russian is starting to loose access to the Western market who is in the driving seat for price per barrel negotiations?
