The DA would be doing far better were it not for that Rhamphele debacle, I suspect that has cost them a few percentage points of the vote.
The EFF is the interesting one to watch... if they can capture more than 10% then you are going to see a lot of people sit up and take notice.
Agang and COPE are dead in the water.

I still predict that the ANC will get between 50 and 60%.
Probably lower 50's.

When I heard about Rhamphele being nominated I thought the DA had completely lost the plot!

As for the EFF if they get more than 10% I'm outta here! ANC must enjoy their last term in charge though, I think come the next election they'll be out.

Preying the DA win Gauteng, but doubt it'll happen this year

Every culture should really have three parties - conservative, liberal and social.

:D that egg makes up about 10% of Zims GDP! :p

Luckily I have the means to, and will use it if that happens!

Are stats ever released / recorded in terms of what races are voting, I'd be interested to see a breakdown of the different race groups in terms of potential voters vs actual voter count.

If they did have those stats... i'd be concerned as to how they got them.

They'd have to have someone tallying the people as they walk out of the station, never voted but I'm sure it's supposed to be totally anonymous when you tick the paper?

One can only hope and prey that the DA will win Gauteng. It's a pipe dream. Like Martin Luther King's dream. Okay he died, but black people got freed.

So DA for the cities, ANC for rural areas - wonder how that will work.

Kinda like Venezuela then. In the recent local polls, the party of Chavez's successor Maduro won in much of the country, but the opposition won control of most major cities.

Personally, I certainly feel that a DA victory in the cities Johnson mentions are a lot more likely than a DA victory in Gauteng this year. For one thing, the voter turnout is usually lower in the local elections and it is mostly ANC supporters who don't vote because they want to punish their party locally over service delivery issues or feuds over candidate lists, etc.

In fact, I would add Blomfontein to the list as well.

Bwahaha true that, I can't actually remember the process from the last couple of times! I know they release registered votes which I guess is easy to track.
