Hi, so I bought my new CPU from Evetech 4 months ago - about 2 weeks ago it died and hasn't started up since.

From day 1 I had a minor problem with the CPU as I would turn on the PC and there would be no display - the fans would all spin hard, but that would be it - but the simple fix would be to simply restart the PC - and then it would work without any problems. This happened rarely and maybe once a week initially. Now however, restarting does nothing - the CPU is dead. I have tested all my other parts and they all work fine, all my PC parts were brand new.

There is a 3 year local warranty with Evetech with a 1 year parts and labor warranty.
Does anyone know what to do to activate the warranty with them? At the least they can test the CPU and confirm that it needs to be replaced.

As I said I have emailed them multiple times now but they haven't replied.

You can even see my thread 4 months ago when I was doing research before purchasing: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/pc-build-from-scratch-help.1036509/

Anyways thanks for reading Cheers.

There a thread about this?
Was actually looking at their site a few days ago.
There are a few, enough to make me stay away from them for any components of value.

Doesn't help the OP now that he's bought something that went kaput though, that horse has bolted.

Do NOT buy from Evetech.
Sorry for your issues.
You sure it's not a MoBo issue btw?
Cpu's hardly die, might be the board?

Goodluck with evetech.
First time I've heard of a dead CPU.

I suppose there is a possibility it could be the Motherboard, but it is brand new too although it was from Wootware, it's a B450M Bazooka Plus

I can not test the motherboard without a spare compatible CPU, however when turning on the PC the EZ Debug LED light switches on for the CPU and then goes off while the PC remains with no display.

How would you recommend testing it, do you think some PC shops offer testing service or something?

Thanks

I would take it to a PC shop and ask what they'd charge you to diagnose. Tell them it's under warranty elsewhere but you need to swap out the CPU to confirm which component is faulty. They shouldn't charge much. It'll be worth the money IMO.

I agree, Its probably not the CPU but the Mobo or something.

I recall the days on my old Celeron 233Mhz, it use to fall out sometimes, and the the pc will freeze obviously. Then I had to plug it back into its slot (like a pci type slot) and then boot up the pc again.

The chances of the cpu failing are extremely slim.

Evetech is closed today, no power or phones & flooding.

Download bios 7B90v1B from https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B450M-BAZOOKA-PLUS
Format a usb stick to fat32.
Extract the E7B90AMS.1B0 file from the archive to the root of the usb stick and rename it MSI.ROM
With mains power cable disconnected remove the cpu ram gpu, this is not necessary though.
Follow steps 2-4 on page 38 of https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7B90v1.1.pdf
See if you have any luck now?

Where are you located? Only way to be sure is to test with another cpu then you'll know if it's the cpu or mb.

I bought the Ryzen 5 3600 + MSI X470 bundle for them, and had the similar problem with the motherboard, also had dodgy problems on day one (as soon as it booted got black screen on windows 1/10 boots, after a reboot it was fine, then if you gamed for longer than a hour it would develop severe stuttering for 10-20 seconds, even the sound stuttered) a few days ago the system just refused to post at all, black screen same as yours, but in my case it was the motherboard that died.

It was a pain in the rear to send it to evetech , they only started replying when I emailed admin@evetech.co.za , and was basically told it probably wont be RMAed this year :/

Purchased a Gigabyte B450 Auros Pro , and the system posts perfectly now (hence why I know its not the CPU) havent tested for the micro stutter but I have a feeling it will be fine.

I think there is some quality control problems on the MSI X470 boards as if you google it there is a lot of similar problems, PCI-E clock issues, USB compatibility problems, and lots of post failures.

If you have a MSI X470 board I recommend testing the cpu in another system.
