Switch on wifi on my S7 and my home wifi speed is wiped out completely....ping to 1700 etc.
I've restarted my phone a few times
Switched on and off wifi
Restarted the router a few times
Perfect speed on my laptop
Any ideas please?

Seen the same behaviour. It starts uploading something and saturates the link for hours

As to what it is,can't say. The phone's upload speeds are now limited on my router :)

Yes, that's what happens......
Don't think there are any settings on my router as it's an o l d Telkom Mega 100WR that came out free when ADSL started in SA.
Any known Samsung contacts on this forum ? Phoning seems an impossible task and taking my phone in is, as previous, an absolute nightmare (14th Ave office)

My father's S7 also does that. He has the edge though. I saw an option for recycle in in his gallery which I've never seen before on any of my Samsung phones. I suspect it's that which is causing the high uploads from his phone. Maybe it could also be same for you

Thanks. I have the Edge too. Where do I find this setting?

Google Photos is notorious for destroying a network when it first bulk uploads.

Once it catches up and only does a few at a time it’s all good.

So maybe just let it run overnight or something.

If everything appears in Gallery perfectly, why might I need Photos too ?

Cos it syncs with google photos automagically. All your photos backed up in the cloud free of charge.
