They needed a permit from the Ciskei government. A dompas. Which wasn't difficult to get because the government was bribable. As we all know now.

Remember Transkei's Stella Sigcau taking R50k from Sol Kerzner for the Casino rights? No casino's were allowed in SA at the time.
So there was a permit which could only be obtained through bribes? What was the point of the permit then?

They did business and actually owned farmlands in in the general vicinity of my village as well. They farmed wheat and maize but abandoned these lands in the late 70s.

Did that land become a homeland? The reason they had to abandon it?

Was he a good guy compared to Gqozo? I don't know much about him but I had a security guy who was in the military and he rated him as well as the Transkei of the time very high.
it was a lot less kaark with him in charge

You enjoy getting your panties in a twist and then blame everyone else.

Then make a grand gesture about how you don't care for born free racists yet here you are

Getting all in a huff because I said one cane be critical with mentioning race.

I mean that's the hill you want to die on that's your business.
A lot of the usual untruths and buzzwords there...I hope you feel better now.

As you were....

Most of the factories in those industrial areas were owned by white people, Cosmik Debris is so delusional when it comes to apartheid.

I said whites had businesses in Ciskei. Because the government was bribable. We all know it is now too.

According to you, it was against the law of South Africa. Who did they bribe in the apartheid government to turn a blind eye?

True. How many of those left? Any comments on Bantu education?

Most of them probably ran away because of anger, violence, looting and general instability during the Ciskei coup d'état. Gqozo's military force actually promoted instability and I cannot imagine any White business owner would have stayed. The anger was also directed at Black business owners who were beneficiaries of the Lennox Sebe regime.

In my experience, Bantu Education was terrible and looking back, it is clear this Education system was modelled and linked with intentions of Apartheid to destroy the ability of Black people to aspire to anything higher than just being a general worker for a White master.

In my personal experience, we were not allowed to aspire to anything that needed Maths and Science skills. We grew up being told we would be trade workers at best. Our schools' lack of educational resources made sure that the intention was achievable. The education was also designed to brainwash Blacks that only a White man had the ability to “think” and many people, including myself, believed that.

Do I think the current education system is good? Hell no. This government is failing young people. The discussion should be about the poor system we have and not comparisons to Bantu Education, but comparing it to what a good education system should be.
