My cats are considering scuba diving course at Cape Point. I've reached out to the social research foundation to get some stats on that, but so far, no feedback.

Well the UK has the diamonds from Africa, so if we cant have it back, may as well move there : )

Maybe we can make the Western Cape British again, so well, we dont have to move far.

Or maybe Irish : ) We have a lot of greenery and we love beer.

Disagree 100%. If I pay taxes, you want me to pay government more money for the same service. Thats Socialism 101.
Seems you have a major misunderstanding of socialism. Socialised healthcare is where your taxes cover your healthcare, there are no pay tiers at the hospital, as the example laid out

Is that what you think about black people in your field of work?
That they work with you because of BEE or AA?

It will be nice to see your varsity class ranking and how you did compared to your fellow black students.

When I went to university it was fair game and yes I have worked with black professionals that have been superior to me in practice and learnt from them. You really seem to be missing the point.

The point is interns I used to train are like chalk and cheese (I'm talking couple of years ago). Your black students now have like 2 As 3 As and enter medical school/ school of pharmacy. The other races all have 6 plus As in matric. Now before you say school means nothing its a gauging criteria whether its effective or not is another story but that's the criteria applied to universities.

There are a lot of black interns passing simply because the consultants/tutors don't want to be labeled racist or have to deal with that rubbish. Its easier to just let them pass (FYI you don't get paid extra to tutor). At the end of the day if it gets you fired for racism you are screwed in this country and your career is finished. NOBODY is going to take that risk and guess what its going to look that way because these courses will not be difficult for someone who has 8 As and they will breeze through it. Whereas someone with 2 As is going struggle. Then when you look at it on paper "oh no you failing all the blacks therefore you must be racist" even though you only trained 1 white 1 coloured and 1 indian and 5 blacks and 2 black students failed. How you think that looks on paper ? especially with the current behavior of everything is racist until I get my way. Look what happened to the director of the HPCSA who want trying to maintain standards over quota. She "stepped" down

As I've said before you want the professional/academic respect. Earn it. Level the playing field then we wont have these debates. If you really care about empowering black people don't shortchange their education and give yourself a pat on the back. The correct way to do BEE would be to provide funding for disadvantaged blacks so they can get quality education NOT pass 100s of useless students simply because they black.

If you think this type of stuff doesnt occur then you dreaming.

And yes some used to work with me because of BEE and AA. You know how I know I sat on interview panels and how the HR manager just deletes the selections and gives you a quota directive. Applicant must be Black male or black female. Dont belive me go search the job listings for the state its printed in bold on the adverts. You know what the best part the competent black professionals HATE the quota boys and so do the foreigners. Ask yourself why people prefer hiring foreigners these days ?

So please do not for a second act as if BEE is doing anyone any favours or its some valiant policy or that I am the only one seeing this rubbish. Though I think you are smart enough to understand where my post is coming from or you think our education standards are stellar and our economy is totally flourishing under these policies.

If BEE/AA didn't exist, people wouldn't look at black people sideways because they would be there on merit.

Truth is racists will always find plenty reasonable explanations to look at black people sideways, for an example, BEE/AA did not exist during the good old days, I guess all we can do is reminisce about how people were looked at purely on merit and nothing else back in those days.

the good old days

Ah yes when

  • I could buy lunch a drink and some snacks for under R5
  • Walk to school without being kidnapped
  • Take a bus to the CBD and walk around without getting stabbed or mugged
  • Live like a king with my intern salary
  • Drive without dodging stones, rocks and all sorts of burning debris
  • Not have my house built like a prison and sleep like a baby
  • Take a dip in the ocean without getting E coli
  • Take holidays across the country cheaper than going overseas.
lol
