SA’s HSDPA speeds higher than US

Speed is not the issue, until it becomes the issue when Volume is no longer the issue

Speed is not the issue most people are struggeling with, its volume restrictions. The US have uncapped mobile broadband offerings for very affordable rates.

Only when those types of packages start popping up in SA will speed start to become the issue.

Indeed, perhaps we have a lot of bandwidth to spare, thus more speed, because everyone is scared to use 5MB of their sad 500MB monthly data allowance.

exactly, this has no meaning to us, as every 2nd person in the US on their mobile broadband will be streaming or downloading slowing down the network, with our pathetic little caps here I'd expect SA HSDPA to opperate much faster that what we currently have.

Exactly!
Its we have nothing to boast about.
Can we trade places with USA?
I don't mind slower download speeds if i get a HELL OF A LOT MORE!

In the US, and Europe for that matter, mobile is not used as the primary internet access gateway. In those countries/regions, they have cheap ADSL/cable internet access just about everywhere. Only in SA do we have a flourishing 3G/HSDPA market, mostly because of Telkom.

Actually, our mobile broad band pricing is pretty cheap compared to the UK.

UK OOB is around 2.50 POUNDS per mb....

ya but like nod says, they have cheap ADSL/cable, having mobile internet is a luxury not there main access.

What would you guys rather have? an uncapped 512k account or a 4 meg line with a 3gb cap?

Seriously speed is not always everything :D

Helps much I got supposed HSDPA when my mobile modem thingy keeps dropping to EDGE/GPRS.

Yay....SA has marginally faster speeds on a service that the rest of the world considers secondary!

What I want to know is, why is MyBB even posting such articles?????? Its not like its something to be proud of! If our ADSL in SA was up to scratch we would only need GPRS mobile connections....what can I do with my 3.6MB VC connection when I only have 2GB cap....what a joke!
