'SA doubly dangerous for kids'

Well just checking the article, it's not too far fetched? Considering the "biggest cause" as seen in the quote:

The biggest cause of unnatural deaths among children is motor vehicle accidents, says Van As.

Statistics show that in 28% of unnatural deaths in 2003, the victims were pedestrians and in 8% they were passengers in vehicles.

So err, SA got bad busses, bad roads, bad drivers , no public transport and people living next to highways [thus crossing them and getting killed]...makes sense that children will get the short end of the stick here...

I can only imagine a minibus tax on a dirt road dropping off people at their "shacks" in one of these slum-towns..imagine the kids running around there [parents nowhere in sight] and the taxi drivers driving like they do.....

From my occasional drives through Soweto (to a friends house) I'm continually amazed by the stupidity of kids, jumping into the road, playing games, just oblivious to their surroundings. One hand on the hooter at all times!

Lifeskills are glaringly missing in many of our kids. I'm not talking about what they get taught at school, but by your parents.
