Well just checking the article, it's not too far fetched? Considering the "biggest cause" as seen in the quote:
The biggest cause of unnatural deaths among children is motor vehicle accidents, says Van As.
Statistics show that in 28% of unnatural deaths in 2003, the victims were pedestrians and in 8% they were passengers in vehicles.
So err, SA got bad busses, bad roads, bad drivers , no public transport and people living next to highways [thus crossing them and getting killed]...makes sense that children will get the short end of the stick here...
I can only imagine a minibus tax on a dirt road dropping off people at their "shacks" in one of these slum-towns..imagine the kids running around there [parents nowhere in sight] and the taxi drivers driving like they do.....
