It should be emphasized that dancing to Robot Boii's song if they win is strictly forbidden, we don't want those Europeans to look down on us and think we are uncivilized.

Wait a bit, that description sounds suspiciously similar to an example project that Lego includes with most Mindstorms sets, so either somewhere someone changed our country's name to China, or not a lot of ingeniuty went into that design. Do we now also reward copying?

Yes,

4. World Robotics Olympiad

The World Robotics Olympiad is a global robotics completion which uses Lego Mindstorms to solve a set of missions. On the 03rd of August 2019, six learners (forming a group of 3 teams) were introduced to robotics for the first time and they were ‘hooked’ on realizing their potential when it came to programming.

it is curriculum based, so it is learning not creating.

International competitions are neither curriculum based, nor included in the curriculum. I always thought that a part of learning, included learning to differentiate oneself from wallpaper by creating new and novel solutions to a problem. I guess I don't know the school curriculum.

What about all the other teams from South Africa that are competing?

Look up the WRO and see the details for the various age related categories. My son took part in one and his team needed to build an autonomous robot to complete tasks - no remote control allowed. It was a huge amount of work.

By the way each team has to design their robot based on parts from the Lego kits. Not only this, but they are not allowed to start the competition with a single part connected.

A robot designed, created, and programmed by a group of grade 11 learners at Sinenjongo High in Joe Slovo Park, Milnerton, will be entered into the 2022 World Robot Olympiad in the RoboSports category. [GroundUp]

This school used my son to put the school on the map but let him down at the last minute. As his father I'm quite disappointed. It's hard being a Zimbabwean in South Africa
