Cape Town - SA Rugby will insure the Webb Ellis Cup to the value of £30 000 (R570 000) for their upcoming Champions Tour around South Africa.

The Boks start arriving back in South Africa on Tuesday evening following their stunning triumph at the 2019 World Cup in Japan.

They will not have much time to rest, though, with the parade starting in Johannesburg, Soweto and Pretoria on Thursday.

The Boks will then move to Durban (Friday, November 8), East London (Saturday, November 9), Port Elizabeth (Sunday, November 10) and Cape Town (Monday, November 11) to take the trophy to all corners of the country.

The team will be transported in an open-air tour bus and will be escorted through the streets by local traffic police.

The Trophy is not worth R40k. The only reason for this is its sterling silver metal and the 4.5KG in weight. In addition, there are other showpieces too, which could at any time replace each other as the official trophy. Nonetheless, getting it valued and insured at R500k is pretty damn okay. Besides, its not about the trophy, the springboks are the world rugby champs and that is all that matters.

So...Winning teams get the actual cup? not a dummy?

Actual cup...

It goes on display in the country somewhere, and in 4 years at the next world cup the captain will hand over the trophy to the next winners, or just keep it and we can become the first team to win 4 world cups :D
