Awesome game. When our top order fires like that in a pressure game is a beautiful thing. And the bowlers backed them up brilliantly.

On to the test matches then!

Well done SA :). Impressive victory.

Rightly handed India their asses on a silver platter :D.

Saw the presentation and Tendulkar at the Zaheer Khan send-off. Time to wake up and get with the program on DRS.

To be fair, he was their best bowler in the first couple matches. Doubt he could have done anything on today's pitch though...quite glad they didn't order up a super-slow turner.

We were without Morne and JP. One could argue Morne was our most effective bowler too.

Sure...but the original comment was about Ashwin being missing and how that affected India. I wasn't trying to say we didn't have our own injury concerns.

Morkel was definitely a loss to us.

I'm loving the rise of Rabada to our team, he looks mightily impressive.

Anyone else concerned by #'s form? :(

+1

Had a good start yesterday, but couldn't capitalise...

He showed flashes... I'm hoping that the more sedate nature of the test series will allow him to grind his way back into form. We're going to need him.

Definitely stoked for Rabada. He could potentially be a handful with a new red Kookaburra in his hand. Time will tell though whether he gets the nod over one of the established seam bowling trio (Steyn, Morkel and Philander).

Hmm, good question... Something like this probably

1: van Zyl
2: Elgar
3: du Plessis
4: Amla (c)
5: de Villiers
6: Duminy
7: Vilas (wk)
8: Philander
9: Harmer
10: Steyn
11: Morkel

This is very much a thumbsuck though. Tahir is back in the mix, as obviously is Rabada and I think Dane Piedt too. Also, not sure about that batting lineup.

That looks like a pretty solid lineup, except Harmer who can be replaced with whatever other spinner. Also, it still looks wrong to me to see AB coming it at 5 only...but he has been been batting well there. Just feel he can get even more runs coming in at 4.

Not saying Harmer shouldn't play, just saying selectors can go with any of the spinners for that spot.

6: Duminy is Injured? So its Bavuma
7: De Kock (wk) back in form
8: Philander - Losing his effectiveness
9: Harmer - Taahir more experienced on sub with spinners.
10: Steyn
11: Morkel - Rabada will soon fill this position.

This is very much a thumbsuck though. Tahir is back in the mix, as obviously is Rabada and I think Dane Piedt too. Also, not sure about that batting lineup.

De Kick back in form

He's too good for this to be a long term concern. I suspect we'll see his return in the test series when he has some time to get set and find his form again...

Will 4 seamers never be an option?

It could definitely be an option but then you're relying on part timers like Duminy and Elgar to hold up one end while Hash rotates the seamers from the other. In the sub continent, a specialist spinner is probably a must and playing four seamers and a specialist spinner will shorten the batting lineup. Just shows how vital Jacques Kallis was in this regard.

I'd be tempted to drop Philander for another spinner...he's not effective when there isn't seam or swing on offer which is more often than not the case in India. Harmer can take his spot in the batting order....would love to see Piedt have a go at the Indians.
