To be fair, he has been pretty decent this tour compared to the others.
Every innings he has faced quite a lot of balls and looked like he wanted to fight to stay there.
That's Elgar...throwback to how test cricket used to be played. On a decent track, I reckon we'd have the stabilising influence at the top of the order we're looking for.

So, SA sent Tahir in as night watchman, again? :wtf:
What was that movie again where you keep reliving the same nightmare.

I will be mighty ****ing impressed if we win this.
I will be shocked. Would back the team when we still had smith, kallis & boucher but now this lot seems to lack the fight needed.

Yep.
Also, no disrespect to the mighty #, but I don't think he's tough or canny enough to captain under these conditions.
Read my mind...he's not got the personality to captain, period imo. He's got a great calming presence but I don't see this inspiring people to fight. Add in he didn't really want to captain and we've got a problem.
I'm looking around and can't see personalities like Brian Mac, Dave Richardson, Boucher, Graeme Smith, Clive Rice etc...we've got a generation of relative softies playing the game now.
Wonder when SAB is going to get miffed with Steyn blatantly advertising Pepsi every time he sees his face on TV monitor ?![]()
