I would've put money on the first wicket being that of Bavuma's and the bowler being Ashwin. Wrong on both counts! An Indian seamer took a wicket?! Never in all my born days...

Haha, my DSTV is on the fritz...channel 202 is out (along with a couple of others). Truly, I am blessed.

Heh, heh! So that's your excuse? Whatever! :p

I haven't even bothered to fire up the Walka here at the office

Amla, much as I like the guy, is not the man to Captain our test side (nor AB - both of them are too damn nice and tactically naive)

The less said about our 'highly experienced' coach the better.

:(

Interesting thought there. Unless I am overlooking someone, nobody else comes to mind to be eligible for captaincy.

McT, I'm too busy watching/updating 7s, channel hopping and ducking and diving the wife to make regular comments here! :p

Another pertinent [-]excuse[/-] reason I overlooked :p

Yadav to Bavuma, no run, rising short ball outside off Bavuma drops his wrists and lets it pass

Very happy to read this. He had a major problem with rising short balls, now it seems he has worked on it

Faf has the moxie for it (only one who comes to mind) - we are thin in the leader department though (I don't follow domestic cricket anymore so I don't know who the current provincial captains are)

Faf? He is the t20 captain and was the other candidate they consider along with these 2. Personally he would be a better captain then amla & ab but none of them measure up to Graeme Smith...

Jadeja to Bavuma, OUT, that was always likely to happen with the way Bavuma has been playing. He stays back in his crease and doesn't move his feet, exposing off and middle stump to Jadeja's accurate line and length. The ball pitches on a good length just outside off and skids on with the arm. Bavuma pokes tentatively and gets an inside edge on to the stumps
T Bavuma b Jadeja 22 (55b 3x4 0x6) SR: 40.00

Don't agree with Faf being a better captain, He is much to arrogant and not really that good.

But agree with no body measuring up to Smith, He was one of the best captains we have ever had. He is only 34 though, maybe he should come back for another 3 -4 years, I really believe he still has a lot left in him, and now that he is divorced, he can focus on cricket again :D

The 330 odd runs look like a 1500. This is the tour to forget, we were appalling.

You need that arrogance in a leader, Biff had it too. Faf is the closest we have to Biff, that willingness to play the ugly and hard-fought innings...

Biff actually had the talent and determination to be arrogant. Faf is just arrogant without the necessary skills to back him.

Disagree. Biff had one of the worst techniques, he had to work hard to make it work for him. And on the other side of it, Faf does have the skills...

Things are only going to get worse.
Amla is 32, AB 31, Faf 31, JP 31, Steyn 32, Morkel 31 and Philander 30.
I guess most of these guys want to try for the next world cup in 2019? Fast bowlers rarely go past 33-34.
Batsmen can maybe go to 35... The up and coming players just don't seem to be on the same standard.
Maybe we should invest in a Super Rugby like competition with one-days and tests and scrap this IPL pro-20 crap...
