I think they would their batters a chance to come out and bat for a couple sessions with some freedom...it's the only facet of the game that hasn't gone right for them this tour and they might want a chance to show people criticizing the pitches something. Basically, no pressure on them so giving their attack some time off and making SA bat again even later in the match is fine for them.

All moot if AB is still around at the end.

I guess we will see in a couple of balls if they will enforce

We don't have a test team. T20 and ODI's have made our batsmen impatient, to used to runs coming easily.

I leave you guys alone for a short while and what do you do - wreck Faf's batting, then jinx the entire side to consecutive embarassing low scores. Not to worry. Now that I'm back, at least the side will finally cross 300...not that it'll do them much good. :)

There is a good reason why I wouldn't make a good captain. I would have enforced the follow-on. Opened with spin and put the shattered confidences of the Openers to the test.

Na, let your batters bat with no pressure, essentially batting SA out of the game..............................as if they didn't do that already in the first innings :D

Having taken a mental pounding from this woeful morning, I need to get my head around SANS 10400-T and see when provision 4.31 first came into effect.

/sigh

It's pointless blaming the pitch, or captain's demeanor (heck Bangladesh would've beat the Proteas too, which would've been worse than what India have done in this Series). Ever since Kirsten, Smith & Kallis retired there was only ever one solution to the Proteas' future stability; and failure to employ that solution is what has caused all the problems.

What was the solution?
