Whew. Relief.

Bad timing by housekeeping. Booted out of room with two overs to go. Away at Misty Mountain near Storms River. Made a mad dash to the bar to watch the final ten balls.

Think Sharma will still get man of the match... lets see

Nope didn't deserve it after he threw his wicket away to Tahir, India probably goes on to win if bats through instead of leaving it for others to finish.

Very good performance from the boys. Solid batting performance and bowlers kept their heads. Very smart from Rabada going length to msd(was clear he wasn't able to hit the normal cricketing shots today).

Rabada: I had a clear mind

Castle Lager Proteas bowler, Kagiso Rabada, says a clear mind and guidance from the senior players were behind his last-over heroics to give the Proteas a five-run win in the first One-Day International (ODI) against India in Kanpur on Sunday.

His maturity and calmness under the pressure of spurred up fans and the presence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the crease was exemplary for a bowler playing in only his sixth ODI for South Africa according to the Cricket South Africa website.

“It was crucial for me to keep a clear mind,” he explained to the media after the match. “I was lucky to have Hashim (Amla) and AB (De Villiers), actually the whole team, to guide me through the over. It was a good bowling performance by the team to pull it back.”

The 20-year-old explained the emotions and thought-process of defending 11 runs in the final over.

“ I said to AB that we had been bowling back of a length as a plan and suggested I go for the yorker, but he advised me otherwise,” he explained. “We know that MS can pounce on the full balls. The plan worked well, I think that is why the over turned out the way that it did. We wanted to pitch the balls at back of a length and with the pace that we had in our attack it would be harder to bat because the wicket was deteriorating and was also two-paced.

“We were very clear in that last over of what to do,” he reiterated. “ I think we adjusted well to the conditions. It was a great game of cricket, you could never say that either side was out of it or in it to win because of the players that each team possessed.”

Rabada says he has bowled many nerve-wrecking last overs for his high school and Gauteng province but has never experienced this much pressure in his young international career.

“Certainly to date I have never felt so much pressure in a game,” he admitted. “ It was simply because of the magnitude of the players and the level of cricket and the fans. It was a big game today, it was very emotional.”

The Proteas lead the five-match series 1-0 and will travel to Indore on Monday afternoon ahead of the second ODI at the Holkar Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

What a game, India really should've won but some excellent bowling in the last few overs. Well done Protea's that was some good ****!

Rabada - I like this young lad. He's got the height, action and pace to become a great bowler, very easy on the eye. He's now put his foot down and he gets to learn his trade from Morkel, Philander and Steyn... this is a very good thing! Excited for him.

I still can't figure out how India lost from the position they in? Besides losing Sharma when he had scored 150, what was the key turning point for SA?

Had to go out at the point where India were well ahead and only caught the last 3 overs - how did they suddenly find themselves in a losing situation?

Btw, Ntini irritates the crap out of me on radio - adds no value imo - Muleleki was better than him.

We already won 1 we shouldn't have...5-0 time :D

More seriously, I was thinking we were 30-40 short...that ground looked small and the outfield was quick. If we were better against Ashwin and the other spinners, we could have made 330-340.

Imran Tahir has risen to third on the ODI wicket-takers' list for 2015. His 32 wickets put him four behind Trent Boult and nine behind Mitchell Starc.

India bat first.

Three changes for India. R Ashwin, Stuart Binny and Amit Mishra go out. Axar Patel, Harbhajan Singh and Mohit Sharma have been included.

I see a score of 300+
