Hmm, after reading those articles I can sort of see where's coming from. When you read it as a single stand-alone statement, it sounds like a flippant remark aimed at the test match quality of the opposition not being up to a standard worthy of his time or effort (which is what threw me). But he was talking about ODI cricket, not the test arena, and the desire to play in another world cup. Essentially, he's already going into 'workload management' mode. With series against India, New Zealand and England coming up, he needs to be at his peak.

Mahmudullah has the potential to be a fine test batsman. His average doesn't show this, but I recall some recent success he has enjoyed with the bat.

He is already 29, would think he should already reached his potential or at least close to it...

In that context it comes across a lot better...

Tamim, de Kock involved in shoulder-barging incident

Quinton de Kock and Tamim Iqbal were involved in a shoulder-barging incident at the stroke of lunch on the second day of the first Test in Chittagong.

Tamim played out the last ball of the 30th over bowled by Simon Harmer, and as he turned around to head to the dressing room, he got involved in a conversation with the South Africa wicketkeeper. It soon descended into shoulder-barging, but captain Hashim Amla switfly intervened and dispersed the crowd that was gathering around the umpires and Tamim.

As the two teams separately walked off to the dressing-room, Dale Steyn put his arm around Tamim and had a word with him. The incident, however, was missed by the host broadcaster Gazi TV as they cut to commercial immediately after the over finished. The big screen at the ground showed some bits of the incident.

The ICC Code of Conduct's Article 2.2.7 relates to "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee or any other Person (including a spectator) in the course of play during an International Match". It also adds that "without limitation, players will breach this regulation if they deliberately walk or run into or shoulder another player".

Tamim was involved in a similar incident in the second ODI. Rilee Rossouw, while walking to celebrate Tamim's dismissal, shouldered the batsman in full view of the umpires. He was fined 50 percent of his match fees.

Gentlemen sport being brought to the gutter .

Aye! And a little too often. Someone needs to remind them they aren't in a game of rugby :p

Meanwhile, news from the heavens above the ground:

3:50pm: The rain has stopped and the covers are being removed. Restart at 4:05pm

Nobody seems to be concerned about the team's performance on this tour? We should not be playing this badly against Bangladesh...

Other than the team playing below par, my gripe is that SS have no commentators in Bangladesh and are commentating from their Randburg studios.

I may as well mute the volume and do my own analysis. Being at the ground gives you the feel, the atmosphere, inside info, etc.

No disrespect to the guys in the studio (2 mates are there!!) but it's not the same.

Yes they charge an arm and a leg, the least they can do is have the commentators there. At least the SABC can claim it being too expensive to send their commentary team to stadia.

They're on the rise.

They'll be moving to no 1 in the next few years. It's their turn now.
