Playing an opening partnership of AB and De Kock, you might get 100/0 in 1 out 10 innings, 30/1 6 out of 10 times and 10/2 3 out of 10 times. Writing off Amla is a big mistake.

again nothing against the HASh. he is amazing. but that role, of coming in, calming down the other side, keeping a level head and simply supporting while having a good strike rate, is statistically speaking performed better by Faf and JP.

on some ground, you will need Hash, and send him in to open with AB. (though in india I think QDK has better numbers than AB...)

some games you will want AB and QDK to go in and have an explosive start. we have the depth to play around like that. if faf was not such a good captain in the field I would say play has over him.

Well aware of that. But you can't carry dead weight into a World Cup.

QDK in the last world cup was dead weight. and look at him now.

and now JP is out again. lets hope he does not need to bowl today

Is this ^ based on the wanderers pitch?

How much longer till the powers that be realise JP ain't a sniff of the player he once was. Expensive with ball (although that came about since he changed his bowling action) and contributes precious little with bat. Time they find another who as talent and potential.

We should learn from our mistakes of past world cups then: current form has far more of an impact in T20s than any other format - a single over can change a game.

The only reason I can see for taking JP to the WC is his time in the IPL. At the moment, his batting is not good enough, his bowling is not good enough, drops catches he should take.

He's a gamble and the odds are not in our favour.

Hash opening with QDK makes more sense. They are polar opposites. Yet a perfect balance. I sincerely hope that Hash isn't been dropped. AB makes more sense coming in first or second wicket down.

JP won't be dropped. We need at least one spinner to back up Tahir. And more inclined to believe you don't drop your best batsman in T20 from a records point of view. Speaks volumes that he has played the same number of games as AB and outscored him impressively

100% agree. I think JP could have a "rest" in cape town and we can play both Stein and Abbot. in theory we are a batsmen short but current from, ABoot is as good with the bat as JP.

I am still worried about berhardien being in the team today.
Tahir will bowl 4.
Stein will bowl 4
Rabada will bowl 4
Wiese can bowl 4
Morris can bowl 4.

so we dont need Berhardien adn JP to bowl, but they might be sent in.

LEaving out JP because he is out of from makes you wonder if RR should be given a chance, not that he is in form though.

They are either to stupid to realise it or they have to keep him in the team on instructions.

By that logic, Bradman would be an automatic pick for Australia test team, if he was still alive.

I was always a firm believer of what you just said, however when luck plays a part, this ^ is thrown out the window.

No, David...you had this innings in the palm of your hands.

Well-played nonetheless.

Phangiso as back up? Oh wait... :(

RR hasn't had much game time.

And Miller goes. Another two overs from him and we may have got 200 :(

Except that JP and AB are playing at the same time in the same team and against the same opposition. I would back JP over Rilee/Farhaan
