SAA in final negotiations with investor

South Africa is in the final stage of negotiations with a potential investor for its grounded flag carrier, a move that would give the airline a boost just as it emerges from bankruptcy protection. [Bloomberg]

Investing in a tax write off.....due to financial loss.
Interesting part: will this fly with SARS.

I'm betting on the person who would buy it would be doing it and getting a lot of underhanded deals to make it worth their while.

ANC can't afford to close SAA due to reputation (as they said multiple times that it's a vital service and bailed it out), plus all loans due once they do so, and then with selling it they need to figure out how to keep the nepotism going.

The fat pharmacist Jamnadas should stop dreaming of his communist utopia and trying to make a point about keeping SAA afloat with taxpayer money.

No sane investor will risk his money on a flawed business plan and a demonstrably failed airline in today's market and with a partner like DPE, unless they pay him to "invest".

I have lost all respect that I might have had previously for Gordhan.

"Solvent" BUT "is expected to have a negative cash-flow position of R59.7bn over the next five years." Strange definition of solvent. More importantly, how will the negative cash-flow be funded???

I'll bet it is another SOE or pension fund that is being forced to "invest".

Or Gupta Bros LLC, investing a grand total of zero and an endless supply of more zeroes after that.
