SAA shuts down all flights except Joburg-Cape Town

South African Airways has suspended all operations except for its flight route to Cape Town until 31 May 2020.

“SAA will immediately suspend all regional and international operations until the end of May in response to a government travel ban aimed at stopping the transmission of the coronavirus (Covid-19),” it said.

So nothing left except Joburg to Cape Town? Game over, RIP...
disagree
ANC will keep it going as long as possible as a lot of parliament members and their family get X amount of free local and international flights
Cyril is just cutting costs for now by not having half empty planes in the sky

Mango operates independently from SAA and has its own board.
The free flights would most likely not be included for parly members as this would affect Mangos net profit.

just my guess, maybe im wrong

So when it shuts down, the anc is going to, conveniently, blame it all on covid-19 -because we all know it wasn't their fault, mos.

Now would be a good time for maintenance, assuming you have the money.

This may work in their favour surely...take the time to regroup and finalize a strategy. If the business rescuers are effective are what they are doing, this could be what saves the airline.

Yes they are bleeding money on staff, but they were doing that anyway. Use the time to reduce that, and review rolling stock contracts.
