SABC slaps paying TV Licence holders in the face

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is attempting to encourage people who aren't paying their TV Licence to settle their accounts with the possibility of winning a holiday worth R300,000.

To be eligible for the prize, you must pay your TV licence between 1 September and 1 December 2023.

So today I walk into a shop, the woman wants to buy a 4th tv. One for her son in his room and she was told its not allowed. With the SABC rules she can only have 3 tvs and no more. Her account was paid upto date.

It's marketed at R300k for audit purposes but its really just a weekend away at nkandla and a means to build a db of as many non payers as possible to justify the millions spent on smses

Who told her this? As a retailer I have NEVER been asked by SABC how many TVs the customer has when validating their license.
