Gooday

To whom it may concern

I have recently returned from overseas in the UK where I have been living and resident for last 15years,i.e since Aug 2002.
Upon applying for a tv license I noted there is an outstanding bill of R8700+ odd rand which is ludicrous as I have not been in the country all these years and my account was fully paid up before I left.
I am now a dual SA/British citizen.

Could you please amend your records as such and advise when complete so I may apply and pay for my tv license.

---------------------------------------------------
again 11 days 11/02/2018 later I sent:

To:tvlic.info@sabc.co.za

Could someone respond to my query, its now 11 days since it was sent!

-----------------------------------------------------

Do they want their money or not? ( not that they getting 1c from me)

Still no reply 60 days from initial emai.

:whistling:

Useless twits.

Unless you cancelled and have proof that they accepted the cancellation before you left you have no hope of winning this one.

nothing to win. it's clear cut. I have no property in SA nor TV device mate, no legal basis to charge me for anything.

If you did not get it cancelled before you left you either pay it now or don't get another licence.

What makes you an authority on the subject? bad experience?

He's not being "funny"...he's just explaining to you how it works where tv licenses are concerned.

Bad experience and any thread here about it will confirm (search sabc TV licence on the Google search).

Sorry if I sounded nasty or something, not trying to, just the way it is will sabc.

We'll wait and see.I'm patient and have access to legal recourse. Thanks for your input anyway.

People dead for over a decade still owe sabc TV licence fees, people that cancelled years ago still get lawyers demands. Very few manage to cancel it and those that don't or can't, the amount owed just gets bigger and bigger.
Can't be prescribed, can't be written off.
It's a legacy of apartheid.

If it ends up that way i'll just use my partners. Many ways to skin a cat.

I got sabc to write off the debt from when I was in UK. You need to prove to them you were out of the country for that time.
Assuming you used your SA passport for exit and entry into SA, you can ask home affairs to give you your records of all your border crossings during the period concerned and sabc will accept that.
