The SABC board has announced that it will suspend the Section 189 process for a period of seven days.

The board had resolved on suspending up to 400 employees at the state broadcaster, but it soon faced a backlash from employees and unions.

Anyone that followed the Parliamentary proceedings last week, or has bothered to read the SABC report will quickly see where the problem lies. And it is NOT with the targeted 400 personnel.

The current management is so far it of its depth that it cannot distinguish between what makes the public broadcaster work and function and what they are doing.

The problem with all of the SOEs is that they are controlled by ANC cadres and run into the ground for self enrichment, that has set the benchmark example for employees that were in a position to enrich themselves.

There will still be a few innocent employees at SOEs and instead of keeping only those employees, SOEs will retrench those employees first as they aren't corrupt to the core like the top management cadres are.

In an ideal world, the top management cadres would be charged and fired to set an example for everyone, but this is the ANC where the example is that corruption is 100% ok and is required by default.
