SABC TV Licence debt collectors broke law by contacting family member over licence holder's debt

It is against the law for debt collectors to email or otherwise disclose your outstanding TV licence account to a family member, Fairbridges Wertheim Becker director Shu'Aib Datay has said.

This comes after a MyBroadband journalist and researcher's unpaid TV licence account was emailed to his father, stating that they had incurred penalties for non-payment and owed the SABC R1,325.

Only R1300?

I expect better from MyBB journalists. Those are rookie numbers.

They did this sht with me a few yrs ago. Sms to my wife.

Im glad they were brought to book and the harassment stopped.

Oh wait

The SABC is a law unto itself. So whoop de doo dah

The debt collectors used to call me about the blasted TV License for years.

Eventually I told the consultant that if they do nto stop harassing me I shall go see the Sangoma to "uthagathi zofa" for anybody who calls regarding TV licenses. Not a single call after that - they are a very superstitious bunch.
