Very soon car owners will be required to pay a radio license even if you don't listen to the radio in your car.

An air tax next, with a rebate for those suffering from Covid 19 as you use a bit less air whilst sick.

When asked about the motivation for requiring TV Licence compliance by smartphone or laptop users, Tladi explained that consumers have previously been able to buy laptops and separate tuner hardware which allowed them to receive broadcast signals.
Assuming this is the case, you license the tuner and not the laptop you dimwit.

“We are not saying that just by virtue of you buying that laptop you are now required to have a TV licence,” she said.
Which is the whole problem. It's completely unrelated to what you provide.

Tladi added that there is already provision for the SABC to charge for a mobile licence under current broadcasting regulations.

“Our regulations currently already provide for us to charge for a mobile licence. It is just part of the regulations that the SABC did not fully explore and even when we did, it wasn’t a big thing in South Africa,” she said.
Try the other one. Just because you think that's the case doesn't mean it is.

When is the public comment for this? I say we use this to get tv licenses abolished seeing as the overlap in technology is now too big and you can't claim anymore that the only purpose is to watch SABC.

They can go get f*cked really. I don't have any streaming service on my iPhone, nor does my wife have on her iPhone. Nor on our iPads. Or the other 2 kids tablets (rubbish Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0s). No ways we are paying a TV license for that.
It's like paying for a solar license for your house because you have a solar light for your driveway. What a joke.
They already thought of that.

What's next? SABC wants travellers to pay TV licenses for SAA's inflight entertainment service?

SABC wants all able-bodied persons with the sense of sight aka vision to pay for a premium TV Licence package.
Blind people have hearing so they need to pay for the tv licence lite package, for broadcasted radio of course.

I watched a very informative vid about fap addiction and how the act affects the brain. Been going fap free for awhile now so no tax for me xD
Sounds like it came straight from that NOfap reddit nut house.
On a side note if they could tax watching porn somehow the sabc would have more money then they'd know what to do with

And just when we thought these oxygen thieves could not sink any lower we were proven wrong. This government is a steaming pile of useless excrement.
