SAFACT (South African Federation Against Copyright Theft) is a non-profit organisation aimed at protecting the intellectual property rights of its members in the Southern African film, home entertainment and interactive games industries.
SAFACT's aims to fight the purchase, sale or possession of counterfeit goods to ensure intellectual property rights are respected.
SAFACT was established by companies in the entertainment industry involved in the production and distribution of motion pictures and interactive games.
The South African Police, Customs, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Justice Department assist SAFACT in enforcing intellectual property rights. Based in Johannesburg, SAFACT has compliance offices in Cape Town and Durban.
