Safe CPT public transport from Century City to Claremont?

So a friend of mine may consider staying in Century City depending on where she finds an apartment to share. She a foreigner and works in Claremont so my question is what safe public transport options are there to get from Century City to Claremont main road and then back again after work?

The Century City taxi rank is a block or two away from a few of the complexes in Century City, so would catching a mini-bus taxi pretty much be the only option and if so, is it safe? (I assume they would have a route to Claremont, how would one check this?). With her being an Asian foreigner I'd be concerned that she might stick out more than other foreigners so her safety would be my concern.

From my limited knowledge, the train lines seem to run the wrong way from Century City so one can't rely on them to get directly to Claremont. Likewise the MyCiti buses in Century City don't seem to go to Claremont.

Living in Century City is a crazy option if you are going to work in Claremont. She's better off finding somewhere closer to live in the Southern Suburbs. They are loads and loads of flats and apartments in Claremont, Rondebosch, and surrounding areas. Bottom line is there are no safe or easy public transport options from Century City to Claremont. Also, why would she want to live there in the first place? Century City sucks.

I'm sure the Myciti bus goes to Claremont via Cape Town CBD as I'm sure other public transport does.

I don't know how Myciti can be described as not safe. Public transport is relatively safe, its not reliable, but safe.

Myciti is certainly safe, but going to Claremont via the CBD is hardly practical.

I don't believe that the myCiti bus goes to Claremont via CBD but Golden Arrow does. The trip varies from 50-60 min the last I checked.

Ok, so Century City as a last resort then and then minibus taxi (for practicality sake) from Century City. But in terms of safety, sometimes not so safe using a taxi?

Abzo, do you want to PM me what rental you would ask and give some more specifics? Or you can say here if you want to canvas for tenants :)

Why does it have to be century city?
It doesn't. Its an option and i suppose only so if she knows the person she would be flat sharing with.

First pick would be Claremont or CPT cbd. Finding a budget friendly flat share is also a restrictive factor.

Then southern suburbs. As close to work as possible. In the main road it's a quick hop into a taxi. But then u have a bit of a drive to visit your 'friend'.

It doesn't even have to be Claremont. Wynberg, Rondebosch, Kenilworth and Newlands are all within walking distance of Claremont and there are loads of accommodation options in these areas for students or people with student-like budgets.

As far as I know century city is no cheaper than Claremont, Kenilworth area. Rather spend another grand if needs be and stay close to work than worrying about public transport, especially in the darker wetter cape town months.

I catch the T01 from Racecourse to civic centre, then either walk to Woodstock or catch the 102.

Feel much safer catching the 102 to district 6 than walking there from the Civic Centre...

Have never ever felt unsafe catching any MyCiti bus. It's the first reliable hop on hop off public transport Cape Town has ever had.

Indeed.

Century City would only be a backup plan and if staying with someone she knows :)
