The list includes players that will be heading overseas at the end of the World Cup and Currie Cup competitions. As before, there will be loads more playing for lower leagues, but I focused on the major competitions.

Quite clearly there has been a massive demand for SA players in Japan while England has clearly lost its appeal.

Just updated the French list.

Montpellier can field nearly three complete SA front rows; 6 props and 2 hookers.

Tim Swiel (SA-born Englishman, rejected the SA U-20s to keep options open) - Harlequins

Paul Willemse (SA born-Namibian, represented SA at U-20s) - Montpellier
IRB rules say that you are 'cap tied' if you play for the national 15's team, 7's team, or 2nd best 15's team. I remember that SARU made the u20 side the SA 2nd side a while back, instead of the Emerging Springboks. From what I understand that should prevent Willemse from playing for Namibia.

Correct.

Should the list include players no longer eligible for an SA call-up if they have been capped by another nation? I have realised that I have left Rory Kockott off the list for this reason but added the Smith-twins (now Aussies) to it.

EDIT: Kockott is now a French national, is he not? Not just capped by France, but a citizen.

Not sure if Kockott is a French citizen. Citizenship is not needed to play for a national team, only 36 months residency, if you were not already a citizen. I think that it is an extremely silly rule.

I would say include anyone that could have been capped, and an interesting list to read.

In light of the Boks record 57-0 defeat yesterday to the AB's, I think reviving this thread is once again pertinent. I would love to see an updated list of players playing abroad, if anyone has the time and/or inclination to find or post one!!!

TIA

Wouldn't it be awesome if the overseas Saffers put together a team, contacted SARU and arranged a friendly / exhibition match between them and the Boks?
Even though there could potentially be a ton of money to be made, I doubt SARU would ever consider it.

...it would still be awesome to see! ...the Boks lose!
